I cannot get my Nintendo DS wifi connection to work with my siemens se 587 gigaset router
When I try to connect I get an error message that says, "Error code: 52000 Unable to obtain an IP address. Move within range of the access point or check DHCP settings."
I have tried to manually set an ip but don't know how to do it, someone suggested that I make it 10 digits higher than the computer's ip, how? I know how to access my router's settings but there seem to be a couple of different ip's. one starting with the usual 192.168 and the other starting with 74, which should I use?
Also with regards to the DHCP settings the only option i can finfd to do eith that is a simple enable or disable. It is enabled and it still doesn't work.
any help will be much appreciated as the nintendo help pages are useless

Try changing your WiFi encription to WEP or no security, this should be available on your cablemodem/router web internface (need a user and password for that) under the Wireless/Security option.
DS Lite is not compatible with any other WiFi encription for online gaming: "Important note about the Nintendo DSi and WPA security: While the Nintendo DSi is compatible with WPA security, Nintendo DS games with online play still require the use of WEP or no security to connect with the Nintendo WFC. Therefore, your connection settings for using these games must be set up on slots 1-3. If you need more details on using your adjusting your router's settings, click here and select your router (if available).

What to do:
Verify the Access Point's WEP Key is entered correctly into the
Nintendo DS. If your router has slots for more than one WEP key, the
first (#1) must be the one selected on your router. If you need

If the above information does not work, and you are connecting at home with a wireless router, there could be settings on your router that need to be adjusted. Please click here for more information.
i have just solved this problem on the SE 587, hope it works for you.
1) in internet explorer type 192.168.1.1, which should bring up your router settings - then select "wireless" and then "basic wireless settings" - under "auto channel" set it to "disable" and the set "wireless channel" to "1" , then "save settings" - my pc briefly went offline and quickly came back.
2) when setting up the connection on the wii you need the code from the bottom of the router - make sure you have "caps lock" ON on the wii when you set up.
3) now everything works perfectly on the wii - you dont even need the pc on! just the router.
Hello ab1975,
What i would suggest is either using the suggested routers which are suggested for the reason of they are know to connect with little error. Other routers conduct themselfs differently and cause errors. What you might try is updating your router and drivers on your computer. This should update your router to the best know configuration and allow the smoothest opperations. If this doesn't answer your problem please post again.
Please post what you do and how you did it.
I look forward to your posts.
