Question about JVC GR-DVM5 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

LCD screen goes plain grey

The flip-out LCD screen, which normally shows as blue if tape not playing, is showing as light grey but with no other indications at all. The screen which normally shows the mode, tape details etc, shows nothing at all, just plain grey. If the screen is "wiggled" from side to side or pushed towards the body of the cam, the normal picture returns intermittently. Any ideas please?

I think it's the case of damaged flexible cable to the lcd screen from the camera. a replacement will do the job

My canon camera seems to work fine in record mode. The LCD shows the video and the timestamp, and tape is moving. Yet in playback mode no matter what Tape I use (even if I know the tape has video on it)...

The playback head is dirty. Insert a brand new tape into the drive and perform a record, through the entire tape until it reaches the end. Then play a pre-recorded tape.

Blue screen on lcd screen

The playback head is probably dirty and cannot show the picture - the screen is blue. Run a blank tape in the tape drive and execute a record all the way through the tape. Then play back a pre-recorded tape to verify it plays back ok.

Won't play tapes, just stays on the blue screen

ok. what you need to do it hit the side where the tape goes in...start out slow and then gradually hit harder and harder...not too hard though...because it sounds like a hardware jam...you need to unjam it by shaking it up a bit.
