Question about RCA P50830BL 50" Rear Projection Television
TV works okay but the remote stopped working with the TV. Tested the remote with another RCA TV and it works okay, so believe the problem is with the TV's remote sensor. Can someone offer an inexpensive/ home solution to diagnose and remedy this problem?
Yes it certainly could be a problem with the remote sensor assy., as I have had bad ones from rca in the past, But mostly its been bad connections from board to board or a jumper or even a few times the Microprocessor IC was bad. The best and only way I know to trouble shoot this, without shotgunning part after part and may get lucky, is to scope out the data line comming out of the sensor while hitting a function on the remote. If theres no data comming out then check the b+ going to the sensor also. Trace the signal all the way to the processor. If signal does make it all the way there , then of course the processor is the problem. Now theres High voltage inside these sets, so its not advisable for a handi-persomn to fix this set themselfs. There really are no user serviceable parts inside these sets as they are all soldered in and you need speacial equipment to properly work on most if not all sets these days. I would say a fair repair cost for a problem like this I would estimate at from200 to 350 depending on the exact problem. Good Luck
