My sony kp61v80 just started having problems with the color blue. A blue "ghosting" seems to exist all the time. It also seems to get progressively worse on the right side of screen. It is a very noticeable problem, especially with text on the screen. This exists no matter what video source I use: satellite, DVD, videogame. This was a sudden onset problem. It worked fine yesterday. Is this a so-called "convergence" problem? If so, what is the solution? I have pressed the "flash focus" button on the TV itself. This seems to do some sort of alignment test, but it does not help the problem. If it is a "convergence problem, what is the solution, and what is a fair price to pay for the repair? In other words, is it so much that the cost so much that it puts me into a repair/replace quandry? This TV is only about 5 or 6 years old. If the problem is serviceable, are there more than 1 convergence parts to be replaced at the same time, so that I am not faced with the same problem (different color) a year from now.
Your problemo could be a so called convergence problem BUT it could also be a problem with the blkue tube or the focus block as well. If its convergence then YES for sure have the other ic(s) replaced at bthe same time cause if ones bad for sure the others going to have a problemo shortly. Now to the replacement?? I would say a fair price range to pay for a repair such as this would be about 300 to 400 buckeroons. This would also include Im hoping the repai, alighnment and cleaning of the sets optics. Alwat remeber theres alot of HI Voltage inside these sets even if they are unplugged, so be carefull!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck
