My remote isn't working and I bought a new remote and it still doesn't work, so it has to be the electric eye on the TV. Can the electric eye be replaced or is there some way for me to get it fixed. Thank You Pauline Young
I don't know what happened, but my remote is working fine now. I keep putting it off and on and, so far, it is okay. Hopefully I won't have any other problems with it. Re:
Is the remote an original or a replacement?? If its an original then yes the remote sensor could be defective. The proper way to troubleshoot this is with a oscilliscope and to trace the data line from the sensor to the microprocessor IC. If theres no data output from the sensor then the sensors bad. If there is a siignal and you trace it all the way down the line to where you lose it as it could also be a jumper or plug connection where you loose the signal. Now these sets are dangerous to work on if your not an experienced tech, you should seek a expert to assist you in this repair, as they hold thousands of volts inside them even when the sets turned off and unplugged. SO BE CAREFULL> GOOD LUCK

Check its battery contacts inside the battery compartment for any rust or dust accumulated, which prevents good electrical contacts with batteries. Insert batteries after cleaning them well. If it do not help you, check for its infrared emission. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, visit this site. Pull up older posts there. One among has detailed description.
You have to program the remote control to synchronize with TV. If you wish to get moredetails; codes, three digits, four
digits or five digit ones, check this link. Pull up older posts there. Setup code list and setup instructions to some popular model
remote controls are given. Select the 'Timeslide' option from the drop-down
list by the 'Sidebar' at the display window. It will make search easy.
open the remote control, and clean the keypads from oxide, corrosion, dirty. change the batteries and put a new ones.clena the contacts batteries with pencil erase. retight the springs contacts batteries, for better contacts. and try again. Otherwise you must go to the repair shop TV for fix it. God bless you
hello! "Element" codes could be: Polaroid, MAG, LG, Vizio. Have you tried "code search" mode on universal remote? If you won't find the luck of those "brands" I suggested, do "code search". Refer to remote's owners manual. I did the same for myself: obtained RCA convertor box, without remote, RCA codes won't work, RCA is out of TV business. By using "code search" I made it work. Then, you may want to do "code retrieval" option, to know the correct code. good luck, Alex.
Hello
You might have a cellphone with camera option. Set the cellphone co cemera mode, and place the remote control at about 1 feet away from its camera lens, and press each button on your remote control. Remote control emits infrared rys as we press each button, but can't be detected by human eye. Electronic cameras can detect it. If there is any infrared ray emission from your remote control you will see its image on the camera screen for each button press to your remote control. If there is image and still the Tv doesn't respond to it, The TVs' infrared snsor inside has damaged and should be replaced. If there isn't any image; check the battery contacts of the remote battery compartment first. Clean these contacts by using a piece of corborandum paper or with the tip of a razor blade. Improper battery contacts, due to rust and dust to these contacts will prevent the battery supply voltage to enter into the remote contro.
Still it doesn't work at all, the remote control is damged and should be replaced. Contact the nearest Vizio Authorised Service Cente fro original remote control. OK.
There's a quick test you can do to test the functionality of the remote to make sure it isn't the TV's IR sensor that's broken. To perform the test all you need is the remote and a digital camera (cell phone cam works too). Take the remote and look at the IR "eye" through the camera's screen. Don't actually take a picture simply use the camera as you would a magnifying glass. While looking at the IR eye press a few buttons on the remote. If the remote is working you should see light coming out of the remote. Our eyes cant see the IR light but the camera can. If the remote doesn't light up then the remote is at fault. You can replace your remote on many websites for somewhere in the 20 - 50 dollar range.

Here for example, you need to input your TV model number and it will tell you what remote you need with pictures. Then, once you are sure that is the remote you want, you can order right from the same website.
This sounds strange but if you have a mobile phone with video recording on it, run the video whilst pressing the remote control. If you point the camera at the end of the remote (Where the glasslike bubble is), you should see it flash ( On the camera) You will not see anything with the naked eye, you must look at it through the camera while on video record. If you see a flashing, it means the remote is OK and you will need what is called " a receiver board" in the indoor unit of your aircon. If it doesnt flash, it means the remote is faulty. Try the manufacturer for a replacement .
Bye the way, any remote control can be tested in this way... try it with your TV remote to confirm it works..
Hi, first if remote doesn't work, try new batteries......
If new batteries did not fix the problem, then it means the problem is either from the remote or the TV.
Remote: Check the remote battery terminal, see if its not rust. Also, disassemble the remote, can check the connection between the terminal and the remote board, see if there is no disconnection of any kind.
If after checking and all seems well, then it means the remote is defective. To confirm, borrow a remote, test it with the TV. If it works, then it means you need to replace your remote. But if the remote you borrowed does not work, then it means the problem is from the TV and not the remote.
TV: There is a sensor in the TV that communicates with the remote. If this sensor is defective, the remote won't communicate with the TV.
The TV sensor might have loosed contact from inside of the TV or it maybe defective and need to be replaced.
So do the above troubleshooting and let me know if the problem is from the TV or remote. If problem is from the remote, you need to do a replacement. But if otherwise, let me knows as well.
I don't know what happened, but my remote is working fine now. I keep putting it off and on and, so far, it is okay. Hopefully I won't have any other problems with it. Thank you Pauline
