All I see through the viewfinder or LCD screen when I try to record are lines. Its like looking through a UPC code. Camera was only used for a few hours.j
Was it dropped? You stated that the camera was only used for a few hours. If that means that it is brand new you should take it back to the store and have it fixed under the warranty. If you open it up the warranty will be void. If it is not under warranty you could have a bad CCD block or a loose or disconnected wire from the CCD block. Checking the connectors is not difficult if you have jewelers screwdrivers, magnifying glasses, a steady hand and lots of patience. Remove all the small screws holding on the covers. Remember where things go as you will have to replace them later. The CCD block is behind the lense. Check this area for loose or disconnected ribbon cables. If they are all OK you will probably have to have the unit looked at by a repair facility. 2 websites which offer free estimates are http://www.camcorderrepair.com and http://www.videotech.com Good luck.

The image will not appear simultaneously on the LCD
monitor and the viewfinder. It will appear in the
viewfinder when the LCD monitor is in the lock position,
and it will appear on the LCD monitor when fully
extended.
