At&T 1485/1185 Readout fading away

My At&T 1485/1185 phone: The LED readout is fading away. I can barely see the letters/numbers on the caller ID, etc . Can this be repaired? My last AT&T did the same thing after one year. Guess what? This one is exactly one year old!

SOURCE: just got a AT&T 950 corded telephone with Caller

unplugged the phone and took the batteries out for 1 minute and it reset itself...then replaced the batteries and plugged the phone in..no more problems

The caller Id service is a paid extra. If you have a caller ID phone, and are not a subscriber to the service it will not do you any good.

SOURCE: I have a AT&T 5.8

You may need to reset the Telephone Answering System. Complete the following steps :
Step 1: Disconnect the power to the telephone base.
Step 2: Wait a few minutes and then reconnect the power to the telephone base and charger.
Step 3: Set the day and time.

Display fades

Does it continue to work other than the readout or does it go dead?? It sounds to me like a bad solder joint on the readout circuit board. It will take an experienced tech to repair it.

You can try:
  1. Go to Settings
  2. Go to Call Settings
  3. Go to Caller ID Readout
  4. Select Disable or Ring Only

I have three handsets and two of the phones caller id is not show

yes if its fading out .its possible that the battery is causing this.also other possibility is that the internal cicuit of the device is moistened or may be needs to be resoldered as some connections may be loosened up too. its a common problem and will get fixed once above things are checked 1 by 1. thanks.

Cannot get my motorola 755 to announce calls with the caller id + ring feature

All you have to do is.. go to Menu, settings and tools, sound settings, then go to Voice Readout, then you want number 4, which is caller id alert.

2 Problems: #1Volume fades out. #2No caller ID on Call Waiting

1. move closer to base
2. you must have call waiting ID for that to work at all and most of these phones don't use it during active calls.
