Fuse keep blowing after crossing speaker wires.

The other day i accidentally crossed a couple of speaker wires on the back of my MHC-MG510 AV. The sound faded in the system and blew the 3.15A 120V fuse by the plug. I took it apart and replaced the fuse with no luck, blew 3 fuses that way. The speakers are disconnected from the system and the only thing that seems to work after the fuse blows is the red light on the power button. What could be the problem? Please help, thank you.

Fuses blow when there is an overload. In your case when you crossed the speaker wires you shorted the main amp. This now has a part that is acting just like a strand of wire.
Trace back the channel you crossed the wires and find the main output device(s). Then replace them. They will be located on a heat sink if that helps.

SOURCE: lost speaker output at rear of unit

Hi Guys

Johnac is right the same amplifier that produces sound on the head phones drives the speaker outputs. If you plug in the headphones you will have no sound form the speakers.

If there was a problem with either a fuse or a sound output device you would have the set not switching on as Sony has buildt a very comprehensive protection system into the GX880.

My suggestion is to also check your spekaer wiring. Or the speakers them selves might be faulty.

Also make sure you have set the soundfield setting to Dolby Pro-logic too enable all the speakers to have sound on playback. Thereby chacking too see if it is not only your front speakers that is faulty.

Best of luck

Kenmore Model 11086407120 Electric dryer fuse blows.

You have a short or a bad ground. You will need to check the complete wire harness for any signs of wear or a crossed wire.

I have a kicker impulse ix702 that keeps blowing its fuse when I turn it on.

Take a volt meter, put it on continuity, cross it between the battery and ground term. on the amp and make sure you get no buzz, now cross it with the remote term. and make sure no buzz. Make sure the only thing hooked up is the battery and ground then take a wire and cross it between the battery input and the rem. to turn it on and see if it blows. Make sure all other cables are removed.

My onkyo reciever (tx-ds656) powers on, then after a couple seconds says "protect" and powers down. why is this happening? [email protected]

"protect" comes on for 4 reasons.

1. crossed or damaged speaker wires- make sure that the positive and negative is not crossed at all. inspect the wiring for any loose strands of wire that might be crossed, touching the speaker frame or touching the metal case of the amp. look for any damage to the wires. use new speaker wires, if you need to.

2. improper speaker ohmage- verify that your speakers are 8 ohms or greater. ohmage is usually labeled on the back of the speaker, and will have the greek letter "Omega" ω next to the ohmage rating. example: 8ω or 16ω.

3. blown speaker- push in on the woofers, it should move freely for an inch or 2 before bottoming out. if it feels like its scratchy or rubbing or there is any resistance before it bottoms out, then the speaker's voice coil is melted.

4. blown amp.

Keeps blowing fuse in woofer

Seems like the wires inside the woofers are crossed. Open the sub and make sure that there are no bare wires touching. If everything seems OK then the circuitry inside is blown.

Fuse keeps blowing

This will happen when there is a hot wire touching within the wiring scheme or, it could be merging circuitry within the radios main circuit board, which is mainly heat related and will happen over a long period of usage.

I recommend running a complete wire check form the radio and o the amp and all speakers. check the main radio wire harness for worn or lose connectors. make sure the ground is secure and the hot wire isn't crossing.

In most cases, this will be caused by merging circuits within the radio itself.if this is the case, you will have to replace the radio.

Please rat and have a great weekend:)

Blown amplifier

I would guess that during the move, the speaker wires crossed and smoked one of the output amp sections. The output transistors are shorted and are causing the fuse to blow. If you can post hte model number, I'll try to get you more specifics on the parts that will need to be replaced.
