You're getting the first and second screen, but the third screen that shows those tools when it's fixing a disk error doesn't come up? It either didn't find anything wrong, or it did and couldn't fix it. You should get in touch with the company. SG

It says files missing need h10 recovery tool

Hello,

When the H10 comes up with the information "files missing", system files are missing on the player for proper functionality.
The recovery tool must be run to restore the player's functions.

When not having the tool available on disk it can be downloaded from
the iRiver site, starting here:
http://www.iriver.com/flash/index.asp?code=0302
In the second column next to GO, enter the word recovery in the bar.

Click on the upgrader, to see how to perform the recovery for the MTP version of this type of player.
MTP version indicates that the firmware on the player is suited for transferring media using Windows Media Player 10 or 11.

The version depends also on the region, the player has been sold. More info for checking the MTP or MSC version, see:
http://www.iriver.com/flash/popup/flash_pop.asp?board=faq&code=365

Where can i find the recovery tool for H10 MTP 6GB?thanks in advance

Hello,

The MTP 6GB Upgrader / Recovery Tool can be reached by going to the support page of iriverinc.com, see next link:
http://www.iriverinc.com/support/support.asp

To go to, actually I have to say "find", the recovery tool select Download or GO next to Download.
"Now you are moving from iriver USA site to iriver global site" pops up:
select OK to continue.

The support download page opens:
http://www.iriver.com/flash/index.asp?code=0302
In the second column select under POPULAR KEYWORD the item MTP.
Look for the numbers 1 2 3 and so on, turned 90 degrees clockwise, next to the second column: select number 3. Open the last item for the required download and information:
[MTP]H10 5G/5G Pure/6G Firmware Upgrader/Recovery Tool(US & EU only)

The download, IRiverFirmwareUpdater.zip, is 407.3 KB sized.
For the download click on the zip file. When downloads are blocked, going to the browser line in the top page, wait long enough to allow starting the download. The slow access of iriver will make the page turn backwards: repeat selecting MTP, number 3 and the firmware.
( Just repeat until the download shows up )

I need to restore the system files for my H10 Iriver MP3 player

go to www.iriver.com people - what the f--- do you think it means?

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Gavin h10 5gb

Take the battery off, wait 10 seconds and put the battery back on. Then attempt to connect to the iRiver firmware updater in emergency mode. Then use the recovery tool, which will erase everything on the playe,r and re-format the drive.

Should result in a good-as-new player.
