You may have to break the little handle off to open it and order a new door latch mechanism. Just be careful. This is a lip latch so it wont be hard if you can get to where the latch connects. Use the internet and model to order new one.
twist a paperclip around some pliers so you have a circle opening. then hook the paperclip around the latch and pull outward with the pliers. once the latch is facing outwards the door should close again
Don't try to bend anything! The latch mechanism in the door is probably broken. Open the door and remove the 11 torx screws holding the inner panel on. You will probably find broken plastic bits on the pathetically flimsy latch; mine failed after 4 years and I expect it to happen again.
If you do, see the link given in "I Have 3 problems with my dishwasher, my...", http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5168615&diagram_id=1349844#d1349844 Unlatch the two switches and slide them off the old part and onto the new one, observing all the obvious precautions about not getting shocked and putting the switchess on correctly. Reassemble the door and latch with the screws.
look at the latch via the hole in the door where it closes to the tank?
is the latch faced away from the tank? if so, then grab a paper clip
and fold it so you can hook it around the latch then just pull outward
towards the tank. you might need to hold that paper clip with some
pliers. if it happens more than once then you will need to replace that
Hello, I read your comment. If the latch is broken, then I suggest first of all disconect the electricity from the dishwasher. You may want to try using a small screwdriver and insert it where the latch is to activate the opening mechanism. If it doesnt open, then there are two options, I suggest to call the technical service to replace the door with a new latch.
Remove the six or seven screws that secure the entire control panel to the door (screws are located inside of door around the top. Pull out the control panel and the door latch mechanism will be right there for you to work on.
The plastic latch release inside the door handle is broken. Most likely one of the pins holding it in place has broken.
First go to your local dishwasher supplier and look at a similar brand (GE Profile in my case) and see how the mechanism works. Next, get a thin pair of siccors, pull the dishwasher handle down and slid the siccors into the opening above the handel and push the tab holding the door closed up so it will release.
Once the door is open, remove the inside of the door to get to the latch. Remove the plastic latch release and order a new one.
sounds as if your door latch/handle is broken internally.your dishwasher is installed with 2 screws to theunderside of your countertop. its tricky but youll have to remove them (adjusting to leveling legs down will give you more room to get some kinda a phillips head bit in ther to remove the screws), once out slide the d/w foward and remove the strike plate door will open at least get your dishes out
