What is the operating system of your pc? the sansa players have 2 usb modes. mtp and msc. the player is in mtp by default. mtp is only supported in windows xp with the latest update. try to change the usb mode of your player to msc. msc works in most os.

Solution to 'usb device not recognised/malfuction' posted on 'it reviews' by paul, solution sent to customer by philips customer service; * If the mp3-player is not detected by the PC, Download the following Patch (Gogear Detect Tool): either click on the link or copy the link into your internet browser. http://www2.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/get?url=/sca/sca/060214/060214143352_10792.zip&ofn=Detect Philips GoGear Device_v3.zip Save it (desktop), unpack it and run the program, just follow the steps. worked for me, allows use of wmp also, but the player is still shit, and won't work properly.

Try running a search in my computer. If this dosn't work it might be that the cable is faulty and in that case it is worth sending it back to san disk. if a little bubble pops up in the bottom right corner saying this device can perform faster, click on the icon and then go on to the 2nd tab and on there it should say install drivers. click on this and then insert the c.d and reinstall the drivers. hope this helps.

Mp3 frooze; PC can not recognize it

I experienced the same problem after a week.

The only way to reset the player after freezing was to remove the battery. However starting up again resulted immediately again in freezing of the player (presenting logo, without any further action).

After having removed the battery and not turning the player on again, I inserted the player into the PC USB slot. The PC recognized the player as a memory stick only. (inserting the player in frozen condition did not result in recognition).
Using the right mouse button, I selected windows formatting and formatted the player (select FAT32 file system).
Everything is removed including the drivers for the MP3 player. Now the player is officially downgraded to a memory stick.
The driver for the player was still installed, but it did not recognize any MP3 file, which was actually stored in the memory (visible and playable via windows media player).

I downloaded from www.trekstor.de the driver and tools download and installed it on my PC.(http://www.trekstor.de/en/service/downloads.php?produktgruppe=5&produkt=83&sprache=none)
After installation an option becomes available via the start menu for "firmware update".
Upon selection a toggle for "formatting" is available.
Selection of formatting results in cleaning up the player and reinstallation of the MP3 player software.
The installed firmware version 2.620.573 is degraded to version 2.620.572, but I don't mind, since the sound volume is improved, while the player functions fine.

So therefore I would advice anyone to follow these steps to enjoy the player more ;-)

How to download music

hello there!

Simply, connect your MP3 Player or Digital Media Player to your laptop or pc via USB. Then wait to recognize it from your pc. When it recognized, usually it will prompt you that a new hardwared detected and ready to use. Be sure that your MP3 player is plug and play though. Or go the My Computer and select the new drive to use G:// or any recognition. and that's it you can copy songs from pc to the player. By the way, what is the model of your MP3 player?

hope it will help you! Cheers! don't forget to mark!

Goodmans gmp32g5

Try to force recognition:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard

My Computer and iTunes does not recognize my iPod

Hold in play/pause, and then connect to PC

I don't completely understand the "Firweire" reference. The manual (and logic) does not indicate that a firewire connection would work. Plain old USB for this device.

Stop responding or disconnected

1) Format the player first - instructions are in the user manual
2) Upgrade the firmware

If you cannot do any of the above due to non-PC-recognition:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard

Computer doesnt recognise when connected

Code 10 means it cannot find the drivers.

Most of the newest MP3 players are designed to run with Windows Media Player version 10 or higher, this contains all of the drivers necessary for installation and recognition.

Best of Luck.
