Press cursor-up on the multiselector (marked with a lightning bolt) to bring up the flash menu. Select the lightning bolt icon and press OK.
In some scene modes you won't be able to bring up the flash menu. In this case change the shooting mode first.

This happened to me too!
Turn the dial to setup, push the menu button & select reset all. This will restore the defaults & let you use the flash again.

It can if it is compatible, meaining I use the Canon and I have to use the type II cards, it accesses fine.. I wouldn't go to the type IV as I have heard they hang when acquiring pictures.

hi try to reset ur camera...To do such reset, turn on the camera and hold the menu button down for longer than 5 seconds. A message should hopefully come up on your LCD asking if you want to reset the camera. Select Yes...

Is there a blinking red dot on our screen when you try to take a picture with the flash?
Is the flash poping up?
Has it worked before?

I actually just fooled around with mine because it was doing the same thing. It will only flash in the scene mode, but not the normal quickshot mode. i noticed under the camera symbol on the screen said BSS and i went into the menu and clicked on BSS and turned it off b/c it was on and that worked finally.maybe u can try it, if its the same situation.

From what I have heard Nikon has recalled the Coolpix 5700 because of the SB error. It has something to do with a connector coming away from the printed circuit board. Falash are not comming

If the flash dpes not work in auto mode at night time then its confirm the flash tube/bulb is cut or damaged. Just replace the flash tube then it will start working.

Nikon coolpix 774 menu buttons don't work

Try resetting the camera back to the factory default setting.
Remove the battery, leave it for 1/2 + hour, insert the battery and configure date time etc.
If it doesn't work then you have faulty camera.

Nikon Coolpix L4 flash not working

This has happened to mine a couple of times. I cannot select flash, and the blur indicator is on most of the time.
Solution is to go into 'menu', select 'SET UP' then 'reset all'. My flash selection then works again.
Since one doesn't tend to set much up with a basic camera like this, resetting shouldn't cause any issues.
