I also have a Magnavox 32" that seems to shut off because it has no sound and no picture. But the the red button that indicates that the television is recieving power is still on. If I change channel they both come back (sound & picture) but it's not long until it happens again. I have had the repair man look at twice and he can't figure it out. Can anyone help me?
Sounds like the PLL IC or the tuner maybe going bad??. You didnt say that by NO picture NO sound, is there any light on the screen at all?? You said when you change channels it comes back alive for a bit.? This is the indication that its a tuner or related circuit problem . Now first off +these sets do not have any user serviceable parts inside them as they are all solid state and soldered in and then you also have to deal with the HI Voltage saftey issues. This is not a reapir You should attempt to do on your own as a pro should assist you in this repair. Good Luck
