Question about Nikon Coolpix 4600 Digital Camera
I've had this camera since January of this year (2006). about last week I turned it on but it died instantly. I turned it off put new batteries in and the same thing happened. It will only stay on if it is in "SET UP" mode. HELP!!
If the usuals won't help (new NiMH bats, cleaning corrosion from the bat contacts, trying with another good memory card, checking for bent pins in the card compartment, reseting the thing either by a prescribed manner or by taking the batteries out for an hour), then it's time to get it fixed. 6 months after purchase you should have a valid warranty, don't you? Sounds like something either in the picture processing or the lens assembly is shutting down the camera. It's not something you could fix by yourself. Even if you could find a way to fix it or get around it I would try to use the warranty if it's valid, otherwise it could come back or deteriorate. And if you do send the camera to Nikon, and get it back fixed, I suggest that you put it to heavy use straight away, take a picture of EVERYTHING for the next month, just so that if the problem is planning on repeating, that it would happen within the warranty, and not a day after it expires. Good luck
