Water flows through the bottom arm allowing it to spin freely and clean dishes. However while running, I observed that the top arm receives no water at all. There were no clogs in the upper arm supply tube and the motor-pump seemed to run adequately. From what I've read, the motor-pump supplies both lower and upper arms with water by intermitently operating, allowing a check ball to alternate positions between both inlets.
Any ideas on the problem and solution ?
SOURCE: water not going through spray arms
1.does motor run? no. replace motor. 2.open door and leave the bottom rack inside dw.spin the spray arm underneath the bottom rack by hand. it should spin freely without binding. if it doesnt spin freely take out the bottom rack and try again. if it does spin freely then your bottom rack is laying on your sprayarm preventing it from rotating. 3.you could also not be getting enough water into your dw.

Have same problem except big motor spins independent of stripped? impeller. tried to reassemble but seems mechanical or adhesive agent misssing from one shaft or the other and the motor spins the impeller (now tight) only to have it slip off again and stop pumping water.

If it is filling with water properly then it sounds like the chopper screen is clogged so that water isn't getting into the pump. You can remove the top of the pump housing and get to the screen and chopper blade to inspect it. Go to sears.com, click on parts and enter your model number and you can view a diagram of the pump parts to help in disassembling it.
If the pump is not clogged then you have a problem with the impeller or motor. If this is the case you can replace the entire sump assembly just about as cheap as replacing individual parts of the pump.
Post back with any questions.
Thanks, Mike
SOURCE: Frigidaire Dishwasher - Spray Arm Not Working
When a dishwasher has been checked for obstructions in the sump area and the spray arms can spin easily (by hand) plus the spray arm holes are not blocked, you end up with either a broken impeller or a failing wash pump motor.
If you would like more details of have more questions, please post comment back here, OK?
Good Luck!

Hi
Please check if something is blocked near the top spray arm, also make sure that all holes are oopen. Use a sharp metal pin to clean the holes on the top spray arm. Make sure the water pressure is not low.
under the screen and youl'll need a Torx driver to get to it after you remove the spray arm and screen. Check to see that the path it travels is clear. I have seen these get blocked up by stuff.
Now check if the top arm spins freely and check the bearings for the arm, if they are producing extra friction while the spray arm spins. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more assistance.
