Generally speaking, I'd run the best Cable Box audio to the RTD and the best Cable Box video directly to the TV if you don't want to risk problems inherent with extra unnecessary (and expensive) video cabling.
this is normal in older dvd players and can not be fixed.....some newer dvds are recorded in a format your old player cant read! (i would talk to santa!)
