I turn on the power, I hear familiar clicks, but no picture or sound. Below the screen there is written "Stand by/Timer" and a small red light blinks 4 times, pauses, then repeats. Cannot locate owners manual, I'm sure this is telling me something....is there a sequence to push on the remote control? Disconnecting power does not change anything. "Reset" on remote changes nothing.

Re: Sony KV-27S42 not on but timer flashes
The blinking light means almost 100% that the high voltage circuit has failed. Probably need a new horizontal output transistor and flyback. Perhaps an associated resistor or diode. If you have the expertise go for it, otherwise take it to a professional. In any case be extremely careful and safe. Good luck.

Blinking of standby light in Sony TVs are fault indications. You just count the exact number of blinks occurs at a time after switch it ON. Switch it ON and OFF by its front panel power switch, and not by the remote control handset. Do this for at least four times, count the number of blinks, confirm and inform me. I can then locate the fault section of your Tv, seometimes even to the exact point of fault too. OK
If the screen won't come on then the diagnostic will never show. The 4 blinks is an error code. If the set is older than 12 years then it doesn't owe you anything, you got your money's worth out of it. Average life of any tv from that genre is 8-12 years. It's time for a new set, or take it in for an expensive repair ( pending parts availability).
When I turn on the TV I hear the click sound and the TV powers up. Immediatly the red (standby) light begins to flash 6 times on and off. this happenes only in the morning, but after 5:00PM when youturn on the TV as if nothing is wrong.
