Black LCD Image w/ flickering static lines

The camera turns on and I'm able to see the menu settings alright. The only problem is that the image I see in the LCD is a black screen that has flickering static lines that come and go every few seconds. I believe that the static lines are the "windows" of light the lens is able to catch, as I've noticed that the colours of them change slightly when different coloured items are placed in front of the lens.

I have a Nikon D3000 digital camera. When I turn it on the info menu is displayed on the monitor and I cannot see the image that I am shooting. When I turn the info menu off it turns black and says...

That is the factory setting. If had seen the image on the LCD before taking the picture, then there was something seriously wrong with the camera. The D3000 works as SLRs have worked for over half a century, providing you with a viewfinder to compose your photos.

Takes pictures but you cannot see image in lcd screen

This model only lets you see the image in certain modes. Test if it is properly working by changing the image mode to "P" and pressing the "Set" button (its in the middle of the arrow keys if you're having difficulty finding it. That should display the image on the LCD screen.
If that doesn't display an image, press "Menu" (upper left hand corner) and press the right arrow 4 times to get to the wrench with two dots menu (says "LCD brightness" on the first line. Press down 5 times and select Live view function settings and press "Set". Make sure the first line is set to enable. This should resolve the issue.
Please leave feedback if this was helpful, thanks.

When camera is turned on no picture appears in the viewfinder or on the LCD screen, it remains black. The batteries are new. I can access the menu, change settings. Everything works but there is no image...

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

Canon A620 is taking black images/ Can't see images on screen

First try pressing the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. If that didn't fix it... A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. No image in the LCD, its black

Hey my27my,
What is most likely the cause of this is the LCD is turned off in the shooting mode. To fix this you need to turn it back on in the record menu. Directions on how to do this are on page 59 of your camera manual. I have included a link to a download of your camera manual in case you need it. I hope this helps!
