Question about Kenmore Elite 45986 Front Load Washer
My washer is filled with towels, the "f" code appeared, and i can't reset it. the door won't open, and i can't get the drain/spin cycle to operate. i've turned off the circuit breaker from the breaker box, and let it sit, but the washer panel lights are still illuminated.
If you press the 'rinse/spin' option on the left side of the panel, it will then run for an additionl 12 minutes. You do NOT have to unplg the washer, reset any breakers, nor wait it out for the error to eventually reset on it's own. I think that maybe the error may be due to the load being off balance since the only times that I have had the 'f code' issue was during the final rinse/spin cycle, but, since the door won't open, there is no way to know nor fix the problem. Who knows, but the rinse/spin option works every time. Good luck, and I hope this suggestion works for you. Lynn Houston, TX

Adele, there are 13 different F-codes for this model. You will have to be more specific so we would be able to help you. In the meantime, unplug the washer from the wall, remove the bottom toe panel. On the inside of the front panel to the right locate the bottom of the door latch assy. There will be a teardrop shaped tab on it. Pull the tab down about 1/4 inch. The door will release.

Washer Not Filling:
If the appliance is not accepting input from the control panel, follow the steps below to reset the control:
This error code indicates that the door needs to be opened and closed.
The F26 code may appear the first time you try to use the washer. Open and close the door to clear the display.
The F26 code may also appear if the washer has run three cycles without the door being opened. Open and close the door to clear the display.
If opening and closing the door does not remove the error display, press Pause/Cancel twice
