The Geek Squad guy told me it would probably cost me $200+, that it would be better to buy a new model...blah, blah, blah, blah...
But I took my chance and waked it on the side like as mentioned on the #1 answer and...it worked!
Mind you, I had tried the Sony manual instructions concerning this error (take out the tape and reinsert) but did not work.

My boyfriend had the same problem with his camera and i looked it up and found this website hitting the camera on the tape side does work....

The guest that said to whack it on the tape side is 100% correct. I did it once and now my camera is working. Thanks a million.

This might sound crazy, I read it on another forum. Leave the tape in, give it a solid whack on the tape side of the camcorder, take the tape out, reinsert it and power it up. I tried everything and saved this procedure for last. It worked perfectly, I only had to do it once but you may have to do it a few times to get it to work. Hope this helps.

Your problem is related with takeup spool mechanism. the tape takeup mechanism is either not working at all or is slipping due to friction. have your camera checked at the local repair shop

Sony handycam ccd-trv59e C32 10

The camera's firmware has sensed a jam or too slow rotation in the cassette's take-up roller. Really difficult to overcome. The tape may already be snarled round a roller, but is certainly in the "loaded" tape path. I've had this and had to disassemble the whole tape transport mechanism - which is really difficult - after trying unsuccessfully to drive the unload motor from an external 6v power supply. Sometimes a really hard sideways bang on the camera can free up the roller enough to let it rotate a bit, satisfy the motion sensor and allow an eject.

I have a Sony PDX-10 and it's giving me two blinking yellow symbols (underlinded triangle and tape with line through it) when I fire it up loaded with a tape. Tried changing with tapes that work fine in...

Hello,
Looking at PDX 10 User Manual Page 232

Your description -

Under lined Triangle

Cassette Ejection needed
Slow Flashing: The Write protect tab exposed

Fast Flashing: Moisture Condensation
Cassette out of tape
Self diagnosis display function activated

Sounds like the diagnosis function maybe your best shot......
Check displayed error codes in viewfinder on Page 231 of the User Manual or let me know if you dont have copy of them.

Tape Symbol Flashing:

Tape near end
No cassette inserted
The write protect tab exposed.

I think this is basically telling you the loading mechanism has a problem, the viewfinder is displaying an error code indicating the nature of the fault..... IF error Code is : E61:........ or E62........ (dots indicate extra numbers) these MUST be referred to Sony Service Centre.

Hope this may help

Camcorder in safe mode won't eject tape either

Remove the battery and let the unit rest for a few hours, try again.Tap the tape door, the tape may have become lodged. If this doesn't work then you will have to send it for repair.
Safe mode is to protect it from any more damage.

Tape wont play or eject.

i just read about this c:31:22 problem while looking for a solution to another problem I am having. Someone suggested removing the battery, switching the camera to the "camera" setting, and then turn it off, put the batter back in and it should work. Good luck.
