Most computer boot sequence is set up in the bios, you can access the bios if you watch the computer start and press the appropriate key, some are f2 as it boots or escape.
then enter bios look for the boot ......and make the cd first boot option.
then save the bios most by pressing f10 to save it, the computer will reboot......
then say press any key to boot from cd.
hope that helps

Hi, I have NEC Versa E6300 laptop. I had set its BIOS password long back but forgot now. I want it to boot from CD and need to change the option in BIOS. Can you please suggest, how can I reset this...

Hi Prajeet
To reset your BIOS password you need to call the NEC to give you a reset code. Most Computer manufacturers like DELL, HP do have password reset tool from their end. you just need to call them to ask for a reset code but expect to answer all security questions before they gave you the reset code.
Thanks for using Fixya.

Nec versa wont boot. the battery was taken out when the screen froze. and now it wont boot fully. wont even go to safe mode or do last known good configuration

try to turn off the pc , remove the cables and/or battery (if it is laptop). Then press & hold the power button for 5 seconds then reinsert the battery and cable.

Turn on the pc , if it did not work, call the NEC tech support at 1-408-844-1100

How to reformat back to windows vista ?

You need a windows Vista disc. Insert the disc and follow the prompts. I would format the hard drive instead of upgrading do a new install. The best way would be to go into your bios and make sure the boot device order has the cd-rom booting before the hard drive. Then put the disc in and start the computer, when it says press any key to boot from cd hit any key and let it load and then follow the prompts to install.

Nec versa want to downgrade from vista to xp but booting from xp cd it does not detect harddrive, why? what can I do about it?

Hi,

Sometimes booting from XP disk wont detect your hard disk, the problem is because the IDE driver which is needed for the identification of the hard disks are not at all avaible with the XP CD. So u have to download the corresponding IDE driver for your hard disk and then u can install that from the floppy drive during the installation . I think on installation XP set up will ask for a driver installation (third party installation). U can do this by using a floppy disk . If the floppy drive is not all available in your laptop then u can use softwares which can mix the IDE driver along with the XP set up U have. A lot of softwares are available for download for this purpose

Thank u and please rate my solution
