I'm sorry to hear that the new DSC-TX7 Camera screen got scratched. You can get the screen replaced with the help of a service technician. Changing the LCD screen of the Camera is bit expensive. Contact the Service Technician to check if the screen requires a replacement or the entire LCD screen. I suggest you to use a screen protector (scratch guard) which is available with the SonyStore. This will help you in avaoiding scratches on the screen.
i have not bought this but it looks like it might protect the lcd some
what but if you need the lcd protection when you are not using it then
look at this
you have lost your fat file and, have possibly scratched the disks the scratching sound you hear is the heads searching for the fat file. if you have important files on the drive send it to a recovery service if not you may be able to refomat the hard drive and, use it again
It has a protective outer screen and depending on the depth of the scratch you might be able to restore it. You'll need to look on-line at a few aircraft site for a kit that is meant to polish scratches from the plexi in an aircraft windshield. There is a company in Oregon http://www.chiefaircraft.com/airsec/Aircraft/Windshields/ScratchRemoval.html
that sells the kit for 34.95....
It is time consuming but I have restored many this way!
Two things can cause lines across the LCD either horizontal or vertically. The first (and most likely) is a small crack in the display wafer. LCD stands for Liquid Cristal Display. They are very fragile and can be easily damaged if dropped. I broke one in my pants pocket.
The second would be if a pin on the ribbon cable (to the LDC wafer) was not making good contact. If you disassemble the camera it is possible to clean the contacts using contact cleaner (or alcohol).Only attempt this is you are willing to replace the camera if you don’t put it back together properly.
