Rechargeable batteries do have a lifespan, they won't recharge forever. If you have fully discharged the batteries then fully recharged them and they still don't have full power or they only last a couple minutes then they are done. If they won't charge or the charger shows them as defective, the only fix is to replace them.

SOURCE: hi, i have a 18v rechargeable hand held vac

Before I gave up completly on this battery I would remove it from tool and put battery in freezer overnight. Remove from freezer and let set at room temperature for several hours. Try to charge and see what happens. I don't pretend to know why this works but I have done this with every thing from ceel phone batteries to cordless drills and several other tools. If you need a new battery you should be able to get one at any hardware store that carries De Walt tools. I know arond here True Value is one that carries a large selection of De Walt tools and supplies. Hope this helps. Thanks

to ways to fix
take it to a battery shop that may be able to force charge the pack

Battery will not hold charge

This is an indication of memory in a battery or failing battery in the pack. Batteries should be run until they are flat then recharged and never recharged when they are part charged as they develop a memory of that charge point that the charger cannot overcome and will not charge past. If the battery in a pack has failed then there are battery re-acker shops that can replace batteries in a pack cheaper than a new battery unit and most probably with better batteries.

Will the P110 charger charge a lithium ion battery

No, the P110, 18V NiCad battery charger, will not charge a 18V lithium ion battery. You need one of the dual-chemistry chargers. If you have the Ryobi ONE+ batteries, you can get the P117 charger ($30) or a charger with an extra battery (P126) from a store like Home Depot. A 6 battery charger and a 12V in-car charger are also available.

I wish that I had better news for you.

(who has the Ryobi 12V drill and charger, a few of the 4V tools, and a number of the ONE+ 18V devices and chargers. The single chemistry battery charger is not used much any more.)

How do I revive a Hilti 36 volt battery from a TE6 nicdm

There is no way to revive a rechargeable battery once they go bad. Rechargeable batteries have a lifespan that is affected by how many times they have been discharged and recharged and how fully discharged they are between recharges. Most batteries will last longer if they are fully discharged before recharging and allowed to cool completely before recharging, heat being the main culprit to their longgevity. They will eventually reach a point where they will not charge anymore or if they do they will not hold a full charge for any appreciable time. The best test for the batteries ability to take a charge is to completely deplete the battery either through working it or sitting on the couch with the trigger pulled until it stops working completely, let it cool down then put it in the charger. If it charges, use it to see how long it lasts. If it dies quickly it needs to be replaced.

Worx cordless drill battery pack wont hold a charge at all its about 3 years old

If it is a Nickel cadmium battery, it has probably developed "memory" - that means it becomes used to partial discharge and the capacity has gone down.

You can partially revive it by deep cycling a couple of times, like this:

1) run the drill till it stops (can tape the trigger on, if necessary)

2) recharge fully

Repeat steps 1 and 2 , after that the battery should hold the charge a bit better. These rechargeable batteries do wear out eventually. Lithium Ion batteries are better than the Nickel Cadmium.

Battery wont charge green light and orange light come on but no charging happens, i have 3 other of the same batteries and they charge and work fine.

Is this an old battery? Batteries can fail and not charge after a lot of use. If it's new, run it all the way dead, then try to recharge .
