If the picture is fading slowly out it could just be a cold solder connection on the ctr board or the Hi voltage circuit that supplys the filiment voltage to the crt. To check this you have the back off and when the pic goes out you look at the crt to see if its still lighting up. if its not then you gotta find out where your missing the filiment voltage at> If there is still a light inside the tube when the picture is dark then it could be a PIP problem or in the video section /video jungle IC on the set. Now these sets have alot of high voltage inside them even when the sets unplugged so I advise against going inside and tweeking with the set unless you know all the safty issues with the Hi voltage and storage capacitors inside this set. there are no real user serviceable parts inside these sets and should only be serviced by a quilified service person. Good Luck

First thing to check: could it be aspect ratio - source material is old standard 4x3 format, TV is widescreen 16x9, so it only fills center? If so, the images will look properly proportioned - circles round (not ellipses), people neither unduly fat nor skinny. Second: if the shapes are wrong, it could be settings on source device (check DVD menu, cable/satellite set-up) and/or TV (choices like letterbox, pan and scan, stretch to fill screen, etc.) Third: if CRT TV, could be defect in horizontal sweep circuitry, requiring repair shop; decide whether the cost is worth it, vs new TV.
The answer to this depends on the model. My service literature does not reveal the answer, so you will have to call Philips. Try unplugging the TV for a few minutes first. Even if the remote is programmed properly, the lock will still keep it from turning on.
Your symptom description is a little vague. Is there sound? Is there a full screen? Assuming there is a full screen and sound I would look for bad solder joints on the boards. Particularly the CRT board but really just resolder all the connections in the set. The KV series has been plagued with more than their share of bad solder joints. Give this a try first and if this doesn't solve it give us a more detailed explanation of the problem. Good luck.
