Sony MVC-FD75 Camera won't accept floppy disk

Camera is on; tried to insert a disk - it goes halfway in and stops. Thought I had it backwards, but didn't. Turned it over and tried again. It won't go in. I recharged the battery to the fullest extent, thinking it might be low and have something to do with the problem, then retried inserting the disk. That did not help either. Should I have a certain setting before I insert the floppy disk? What do you think the problem is? Everything worked fine until I turned it on the other night, touched something on the setting accidentallly as I was handling the camera; it beeped 3 times and I then turned it off. Type of disk I purchased is Memorex PC Formatted Diskettes

I tried all of the above because I had the same problem, I ended up snapping the back of the camera. (Broke it),
I bought my FD-91 for $1300.00 cash back when they 1st came out.
I've sold over $150,000 worth of guitars with this camera.
Some of the most Exotic Vintage were taken with this camera.
I'm going to Miss her. :(

It sounds as if the eject mechanism didn't quite do it's job last time it was used. It could be stuck half way between in and out. Try closing the camera and with a fully charged battery keep pushing the eject button and see if it clears the problem. You can imagine that after all those years dust and gunk has built up inside. It's just a bloody shame they can't build cameras today to last that long. At the worst all you'd have to do is pull the back off and have a good look at the drive mechanism. Or pick one up for $10 on Ebay and swap the drives over.

I can not locate where the memory stick is located on my Digital Mavica MVC-FD85. pleaase let me know

I'm sorry to inform you that the MVCFD85 Camera does not have a Memory Stick slot. The medium using in the Mavica FD camera is floppy disc.
The MSAC-FD2M floppy disk adapter can be used in some FD Mavica digital cameras.
With the help of the above mentioned Floppy disc adapter, you can insert a memory stick inside the adapter and insert it in to the floppy disk drive on the camera.

What type of disc do you use for a sony fd mavica?

Regular floppy disk, the one that used with computers.

I put a floppy disk in MVC-FD90 & it would not release it.

Make sure the disk isn't in backwards. If it takes a superdisc, it might not take a regular floppy. Once you get one in, try to format it with the camera, no matter what message you get.

Sony Mavica FD75 shows NO DISK when disk has been inserted

The floppy driver has an internal switch that detects when the floppy disk is protected or not.

It is likely such switch is damaged.

It is necessary to open the camera and the floppy drive to fix it.

If you have experience and skills in fixing electronic devices, or want to try it, then you can try its repair.

The alternative is to pay to have repaired, but is more likely that the quote you will receive is to replace the whole floppy drive, which costs around $40.00 plus the repair labor.

Disk Error (C:13:01)

probably not cost effective to repair, it will need a new floppy drive.

How to shut off disk protect

The write protection is on the floppy diskette itself. Make sure the little sliding latch is covering the hole on the right side of the diskette. If you see through two holes on the diskette it is on write protect.

Sony MVC-FD75

Not good, you will need a replacement floppy drive for the camera. It is a common failure point on the Mavica series. Sorry, no easy fix
