Question about Vivitar ViviCam 5340s Digital Camera

1 Answer

Help please last time i used my vivicam 5340 digital camera it worked fine. i have been trying to turn it on for the last couple of days and wierd stuff has been happening.the welcome screen comes on when i press the power button.I see the battery symbol comes on and then it goes off.i have been trying it now for a while and the same thing happens each time. i recharged the batery and tried again to put it on. that didn't work. I placed it on external power, that didn't work either(i took out the battery). When i tried to access the pictures from the camera by connecting the docking station to my laptop, i was able to view the pictures.i turned it on sometime ago and the lcd screen was slightly illuminated after the camera went off. i had to remove the battery to make the screen go off.

See if keeping the power button pressed continuously without
releasing keeps the camera on

It sounds like you tried all there is to try. Have you taken the batteries out for long enough for the camera to reset? Have you tried an altrenate good mem card? If yes to both then I can't see what else you can do on your own. Get a repair estimate and hope for the best. I suggest you add this post to the previous one you made, as a comment. With all the information in one post, someone might come along with a better 2nd opinion. Good luck

Memory card errors

Could be a camera problem or a card problem. Best way to check is to reformat the card in a computer (do a long format), then reformat in the camera and see if it works.

If not, try a new card. If that doesn't work then you have a camera problem.

Cards don't last forever, so it's most likely that your card has just worn out. Some cameras are more sensitive to this than others, or it could just be a cooincidence that it's only happened in the Kodak up to now.

Put an update on here if this doesn't work, I check threads every couple days and I'll see if can help more.

Vivicam 8400

I have a ViviCam 8400 and have the same problem UNLESS I buy Duracell Power Pix or Energizer Titanium batteries. These cost more than the regular grade AA batteries, but when I used brand new regular batteries, the camera would turn on for 2 seconds then turn right off. Titanium or Power Pix batteries make the camera work fine. And, because they are made for digital media, they do allow you to use the camera for longer periods of time.
