This has now happened to me 3 times over the last 6 months, and i'm trying to find a workable solution
The Fridge will loose all temperature, the freezer still works, but the fridge is at room temperature.
The first time this happened an engineer came round to check it, he did replace somthing (think it may have been the thermostat). The second time, he came back checked the part he'd replaced and advised that it was still working and the solution was to switch off the freezer, let it de-frost, and then turn it back on. Admitadly this works. But is by no means a workable solution.
He said that it would happen when the frezzer temperature was upset by putting too much unfrozen stuff in the freezer. when i ask how much is too much he advised about half a basket!!
Firstly i need to find out if this is info is correct, as this is by no means a solution for me
Secondly if this is not correct, the Fridge/freezer is under warrenty and i need to know how to resolve it.
Thanks in Advance

Re: Fridge stops working
Angela, You should not be limited to put unfrozen stuff in the freezer and enginner "solution" is not accepted as well.
Poor cooling is often the result of a heavy frost build-up on the evaporator coils and it usually indicates a problem in the self-defrosting system.
The refrigerator is supposed to self-defrost about four times on 24 hour period. In case that one of the components in the self-defrosting system fails (defrost timer, defrost thermostat or defrost heater)the refrigerator will continue to try to cool, but the quantity of frost builds up on the evaporator coils will prevent the circulating fan to draw air over the coils and with no air flow over the coils, cooling in the refrigerator compartment is quite limited.
Since your refrigerator is still under warranty, you should insist for a complete solution !!!!
Good luck !

I had similar problems with my GE and had to replace the control board. Solved the problem but when I examined the failed board the main filter capacitor was bad whic I replaced. I do not know if it fixed it I never put it back in.
Some Of These Fridge Freezers If You Open The Door For The Freezer There Is A Switch Between The Fridge And Freezer Door Mine Done The Same And I Had To Replace That Switch It Turns The Fan On When Door Is Closed And Off When Open
I know this is late, but this happens frequently. If anyone else has the same problem try unplugging the TV for 60 seconds. Plug it back in and then hold the power button down for 30 seconds.
That will reset the TV.
You should see the Westinghouse logo come up and the HDMI should work. This has happened twice with my TV in 1 year.
Yes, listen to regular fridge for the sound of the compressor. do you hear it now? does it fill warm? Do you hear a clicking noise? Ifso, you'll need a potntial start relay, or a 3 in 1 start kit 15.00
Make sure your fan is working ,its located behind the freezers back wall. If it is working the vent from the freezer down to the refrigerator may be blocked (usually with ice). With out a fan you have no circulation but your freezer may look likes its working,it may last 3 days. Also if you can move everything out unplug it turn it off w/ doors open untill all traces of ice are gone this will free up any clogged tubes. Good luck. Len West
