Speedstream 4100 does not work with router

plug the computer into the modem testing dhcp
if it gets internet the modem is the dhcp server
the plug into router by itself disconnected it from modem testing dhcp if gets ip address and no internet it's the dhcp server
dhcp can be done by the modem or router. I bridged mode the modem and let the router do dhcp. of course the router must be pppoe for dsl. been years since I had DSL, hope it helps

When you are connecting to it, are you using the lan connection straight into the device? When you do that is it showing as at least connected to the device on the computer? You did not post the operating system but can you check the router address by using the command prompt and using tracert commands to see what it is listed as? If you are using windows 10 have you use the powershell command to reset the winsock? Did you use the 30 30 30 reset method on the device?

Your computer is not communicating with the router and modem it needs to reset to factory specs then reboot the computer,modem then router in that order.If this does not work contact your dsl provider for info as to your ip address ,gateway and reset with the provider.

The problem is probably not your modem. The dsl or cable service is possibly out. DId you call your service rep for help? I would start there.

The modem advanced settings had VCI=35. It should be VCI=32 for QWest. See http://www.dslmodemsdirect.com/DSL%20Configuration/VPI_VCI%20configuration%20Page.htm for other providers.

u need to setup ur router to program it so ocnsequently u can connect ur pc to the router instead to the modem
1) so u need to prgram ur router by configure the required settings
2) u need to write down ur username and password inside router program
3) then u can be connected to the internet via router

The answer is Yes,speedstream 4100 cannot be used in bridged conditions for any other isp
