The TV set was unhooked and re-hooked up to install a new stand. All connections are the same. The picture is fine except there is now a 3 inch black veritcal bar on the left hand side of the screen. It looks similar to what you would find in adjusting your computer monitor. I can find no adjustments for this.

Re: Large vetical bar on left side of screen
Sounds like you did everything correctly?? HMMM well there is no adjustment thats for the consumer to try, your right about that. Sometimes a set can be working well and its moved ever so slightly , the Printed circuit board cracks or a solder connection becomes loose and starts giving problems. This seems to be in the width circuit or the horzontal sweep?? there are no user serviceable poarts inside these sets and there is dangerous Hi voltage so the only thing I can recomend is to have a shop take a look at it and maybe they can find the solder connection or crack in the circuit without too much trouble. Sorry I coundnt be of more assistance. good Luck

You should definitely be able to, assuming your TV has the proper connection. I just looked at your computer's specs, and it has a VGA (which stands for "video graphics array") port on the left side. If your TV has a VGA port, grab a VGA cable and plug it in to the computer and the TV. You might have to tweak some graphics settings to get the best picture, but the settings should update automatically when you plug it in.
This is more likely a loose connection. You would need to remove the TV stand, back panel. Remove the front cover and panel. Where the TV stand sits on the front of the TV there is a cover you need to remove. It's easy there is a metal frame all around the front panel, at the base is the what you need to get to. There are 2 white computer cables, one controls the left side, the other the right side of the LED's. When this cable comes loose, you have the problem you described. to remove the cable lift up on the small black bar just above where the cable connects.
bring the tv out to the main tv and hook it up to that connection to determine if it's the TV or the connection. Or try hooking up a VCR to the tv while the TV is set to CH 3. Do you get a blank picture or a snowy Picture?
I have the same emerson set.
I had the same problem the first time I hooked it up to the computer.
All I had to do was change my display settings.
To do this, click the start button, go to control panel.
In control panel, double click the display icon.
Click the settings tab.
Look for the screen resolution slider bar, and move it all the way to the left (CLICK APPLY)
NOW HOOK UP YOUR TV, AND IT SHOULD WORK FINE (YOU MAY NEED TO ADJUST THE SLIDER TO FIT YOUR SCREEN SIZE)
Yes, you have a size problem you have horizontal and vertical size. Either its' in the service mode or somewhere on the set, with this set it's probably in menu. Must be set too high. I will look for menu codes! Is this an Akai or Panasonic set?
This set does have a video problem. If it was bought locally, then, the retailer may have a 30 day return policy.
If bought online or cannot be returned, then, contact Sony, for a service center in your location:
Either way the set is to new to have a problem and you should get it resolved as soon as possible.
