Hello
The assainged key for 'hash" is "SHIFT - 3" If it showas any other symbol than this, the inside membrane of the keyboard is faulty. You should contact the deler or Acer service center to make it right. OK.
Here is it. I'm going to print a hash symbol here by holding down the Shift Key and the press the Digit key (3)

When i press the 3 key and the shift key i should get a pound sign but I get a hash sign#

Hello,

Shift + 1 = !
Shift + 2 = @
Shift + 3 = #
Shift + 4 = $

I am assuming your keyboard is set to English USA. Go into control panel, regional settings and make sure everything there is set to UK but then also open Word, up to Tools on menu bar, down to language and check that it is English UK there also and set by default. If this does not work you will have to insert it from character map and add it to autocorrect feature.

Hope this helps. Kindly update me on the same.

I assume yo have WinXP.

Go into control panel>Regional & Language... Change your location to whatever you want it to be.  Keyboard assigned symbols are supposed to change accordingly.  But the keyboard printing remains the same so you need an "overlay" for your country.

You can also customize it to some degree also.  Play around with it and have some fun.
