Ratio issues Hello, I came home the other day, the tv was on but it was a white screen with specifications information on it. I turned the tv off and then turned it back on and it came on. The problem is that know when on HD1 or HD 2 there are bars on the side and we are not able to turn on the closed captioning, even though it says it is on. I can change the view put I can not get the captioning on. I can change to video 1 and I get full screen and closed captioning but I can not use the cable directory. Any advise is welcome. We really need to have closed captioning. Thanks

It sounds like your eprom has issues and needs replaced. Not expensive but you will need a tech.

I have a viore 42 in plasma tv and the picture is black and white how do i fix it?

Hello kdmuszik,

Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!

Your issue is with your Tuner Board. This piece will have to be replaced. All commands for picture ratio, color, and size transmit to the TV through this board. I have inclusded a link to the board you should be looking for, below.

Can i get rid of the borders on top and below the picture

Hello,
In most cases you can remove those borders, but it depends on what source you are feeding to your tv and they way it's set up.
Here are a couple things you can try.
Look on your tv remote and press a button labeled either tv ratio, aspect, or wide. Im not sure exactly what it may be on your specific remote. Press that until you see the borders disappear. This will be called Full or wide zoom, but full is going to look the best.
If you cannot find the wide button on your tv, check the remote for your sat, dvd, or whatever source your feeding and go into the setup and change the aspect ratio to full. If you can provide the specific source your using, i might be able to provide some better detailed information
Good luck

How do i connect my iomega screnplay director for the first time?

First Time Setup: 1. Connect the power supply to the ScreenPlay Director and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) or power outlet. 2. Press the power button on the front of the ScreenPlay Director to turn it on. 3. Turn on your TV and change the input setting as needed to receive input from the ScreenPlay Director. 4. When the ScreenPlay Director setup wizard appears on the TV screen, select your language and the TV screen aspect ratio, then configure your network connection. Refer to the user's manual if you need additional instructions. NOTE: If you wish to skip the network configuration during first time setup, you can add it at a later time using Settings from the ScreenPlay Director home menu. See the user's manual for detailed instructions. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you need any other information about your device, I would suggest looking at the user's manual as it will pretty much answer any other questions you have about your device. After 5-10 minutes screen turns completly red/orange

Hello Fixya customer,

Although it would be helpful to be model specific, I can point to some general areas of concern.

If the screen is turning red with White slanting lines, that is an indication of a faulty color dirve circuit or red CRT. Please supply the model number so that I may give you product specific information.

Thank you for using Fixya, and I look forward to your response.

Lable in Righthand corner on INPUT1 wont go away

When an HD cable box or satellite receiver is connected with HDMI, the information banner in the corner of the screen does not go away when the TV is on that input. The Plasma Display automatically selects an appropriate screen size when video signals are received from a connected HDMI equipment. The TV's attempt to search for aspect ratio information through the HDMI connection can cause the information banner to stay on the screen, if the data is not found. To turn off the Auto Size, please follow these steps: 1 Press HOME MENU. 2 Select (Option). ( / then ENTER) 3 Select (Auto Size). ( / then ENTER) 4 Select (OFF). ( / then ENTER)
