No power my tv won't turn on manually or by remote. I've been using an RCA universal remote since original remote won't work anymore.

Surely you'll get a solution to your problem. Search the site by 'Timeslide' option. It will make search easy. "Element" codes could be: Polaroid, MAG, LG, Vizio.
Have you tried "code search" mode on universal remote? If you won't find the luck of those "brands" I suggested, do "code search". Refer to remote's owners manual. I did the same for myself: obtained RCA convertor box, without remote, RCA codes won't work, RCA is out of TV business. By using "code search" I made it work. Then, you may want to do "code retrieval" option, to know the correct code.

It will be very difficult to unlock RCA TVs without its orginal remote control handset. Anyway just try this, This is the actual proceedings to unlock the RCA TV with its original remote. If you fail to do this with your present universal remote control, just buy an new original one from RCA Authorised Service Center at tyour town, or just borrow it from any of your friends or relatives; just to unlock your set. After unlock, you can use the universal remote control. Just follow the proceedings given below. One amoung them must unlock your RCA TV.

Most RCA TV sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset is different depending on the model. Try each number until you find the one that works for you.

1. Hold down the MENU button on the remote and VOLUME DOWN button on the TV it's self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
2. Hold down the 0 (zero) button on the remote and the VOLUME DOWN button on the TV itself at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
3. Hold down the MENU button on the front of the TV and the TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. 4- Hold down GO BACK button on the remote and MENU button on the front of the TV at the same time for at least 4 seconds.

Hold down EJECT button on the front of the TV set and the MENU button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. Depending on the model, one of the methods should unlock the V-chip. Now, if desired, you can change the settings on the V-chip by going to the MENU and going to PARENTAL CONTROLS, or on some sets, going to MENU and then going to TV SETUP, then to V-CHIP SET.

Try this first on the original remote. Insert the batteries backward and make sure that they make contact with the terminals in the remote control(stick a piece of metal in there to make sure all the posts make contact), then take them off and install them correctly and see if it works, it's a long shot but i've had some luck using this method. now, for the question regarding if the new remote will work, well, i couldn't find the correct code for your receiver using the RCA universal control. Newer brands of tvs are using new codes that old remotes don't have. Only older learing remotes from original remotes or USB upgradable or newer one that were made after the tv was made will work.

hold down tv button and power button together until the lcd light turns on. then press the play button every 5 seconds until your tv turns off. press reverse every 2 seconds until it turns back on. press stop to save the programming code.
