Hi, I have a Mitsubishi TV that intermittently goes snowy. When we first turn it on it is snowy and blinks with horozontal lines for a few hours then is a crystal clear picture. Also, does the same thing sometimes while watching. Heres the wierd part, sometimes I can cycle through the channels in the TV not the sattelite and it will go back to normal. Also can watch DVD while it is doing this but not VCR. Please help no mannual or warrenty and can't afford a new one.
Can this be self done? The Television is too big to move. Thank you. That is what I suspected in the first place. Can this be self done? The Television is too big to move. Thank you. That is what I suspected in the first place.

Channel tuning, snowy pix. IC 703 selects tuner band switching, check printed circut board from terminals 11, 14, 15, 16, and 17 to the tuner solder terminals. Possible intermittent open. I corrected this with jumper wires. TV tunes perfectly now.
Do the self check this set has--when you turn on and power light comes on and then goes off:
On the front of the set press both the Menu and Input (device) buttons at the same time and hold them for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.
The power light will then blink a two digit error code--the most common is 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks---it will repeat it several times.
Let me know what you find and I will tell you what it means---based on your description I bet you get 2,2 error code.

Fuzzy is a funny word. I never use it to describe a picture problem. That because fuzzy can go too many different ways. There is snowy fuzzy, blurry fuzzy, grainy fuzzy, and demodulated fuzzy. If the set goes out of focus intermittently that has something to do with the focus ciruitry. If it goes grainy that is a front end problem, usually tuner related. The other types of fuzzy are generally associated with problems in video processing some where. So, which is it?
Oh, and BTW that unit has three small picture tubes in it, one red, one blue, and one green. It doesn't have a 'bulb'.
Connect up another set right next to that set thats going out to make sure the cable or that line is not bad. It soukds as though you may have an intermittant tuner assembly inside the TV set. Its also a possablity that there could be a bad solder connectiuon in or around the tuner assembley. Not really a job for the user, as this set has hot and cold chassis, and can give a mean shock if you do not have the know how to work on these monsters. good Luck
