'Access' screen? Everytime I switch my camera on, a black screen with 'Access' on it comes up and the camera then switches off. This only happens when it is in the taking photos or recording videos modes, and not in the playback mode. Can anyone help?

Can you tell me how to do a firmware update?
I haven't had the camera long and I'm not very good with it!

    Thank you! :)

I did everything I could to try and sort out the problem with the camera, in the end I took it back to the shop and they gave me my money back. They also refunded the memory card that I bought with the camera, even though there was nothing wrong with it :)

Thanks for the help, much appreciated :)

The (Access) in the screen refer to one of this problem, the lens mechanism is unable to start due to plastic broken parts in it or dust, or battery poor power, use a rechargeable battery over 1200 uAh of power

Common problem with this model. sorry. An interesting thing, is that the Access screen should be displayed when updating the camera's firmware. Maybe a firmware update would be able to wake the camera out of this mode? Would you try it and let me know? post again if you can't figure how to do the firmware update. Good luck ;]

It appears that there is no firmware available for this model on the sony site. There are 2 other things you could try doing:

    1. connect the camera to the computer- this might shake the camera out of the access mode.

    2. reset it. either by the manner specified in the manual or by taking out all batteries(including the internal button battery for memory purposes if available) for a few hours and reinserting them. you could try both reset procedures.

I hope this helps... otherwise call up sony and try to get some info regarding this problem out of them. let us know if you find something out since other users might run into this problem and could benefit from your experience.

    Good luck again.

My camera lense won't go in. Everytime I switch it

Your batteries are too low.
When you switch on the camera, the lense go in. Then lense comes out fully. Then, if the batteries are low, lense goes in and camera turns off.
But if the batteries are too low, camera turns off before the lense retracts or even before the lense comes out fully.

Hi, I've never had any problems transferring photos to my laptop until now. Suddenly, nothing is happening. I switch the camera off, connect it up, switch it back on again and the 'on' light comes on but...

Maybe you should update or reinstall the software? Does your camera act like it's connected (like black screen, special light, no access to menus, etc. etc.)? Check if there's a problem with your cable.

Sega megadrive 2 never comes to black screen just snowstorm

Ensure that the switch on the back of the unit is set to channel 3 or 4, and that your TV is tuned to this channel. Additionaly, make sure that the rf switch is properly wired in to your television and that no wires have come loose or fallen out.

Hi, I solved the problem, it appears the memory card was corrupt. When I removed it and switched on the camera it worked perfectly. Not sure why this happened!! I'm just glad my camera is working again!!

Thanks.

Problem .

If you open the part that gives you access to the battery and the memory stick you'll see a small button that says 'reset'. I'm actually not sure what it resets, but you could give that a try.
