No picture but sound

I have had this TV for a week and the Cable guy came to put in Digital Cable today. Within an hour I was plugging in video cables for my DVD player and putting the Tv against the wall and the screen went black and said Channel can't be found. I went to the menu and changed it to DV1 and now I have sound and can change the channels via my box but I still have a black screen. What's up with that?

Ok I have the five cables (two of which are audio) that are all connected going from the Cable box to the back of the TV. There are two reds, a green, a blue and a white I have now disconnected all DVD cables and I am concerned about getting the main picture back. Still having the same black picture with sound. the weird thing is that I can get the menu up fine on the screen but no TV picture

Viera TH-46PZ85U. gray box where picture should be

If it was a setting on the television, then the cable info would also be affected. Try a reset on your cable box, as the cable info is generated within the box from the data stream, whereas the picture is streamed from the provider.

If the reset doesn't work, it's time to call the cable company - it's not a fault with your telly.

No sound on my 32'' Insignia LCD HDTV

you might try checking the sap (secondary audio programming) option in your tv if it has one make sure it is turned off. if it is off or does not have that option you will most likely have to take it to a repair shop. i would not try to fix it my self as you will do more harm than good.
