My SB4100 cable modem will not connect completely. The power light turns on, then the receive one blinks until it becomes a solid light. Then the send light blinks for hours without ever lighting up. The online light never becomes lit and I cannot connect with my laptop through ethernet connection. What can I do?

SOURCE: Re-starting a ARRIS modem after a loss of power

You can try doing a "Hard reset" on the modem but it looks like you've tried most combinations. To do the hard reset: - unplug the coax cable from the back of the modem - Push and hold the "reset" button in for 15 seconds - Allow the modem 30 seconds to reinitialize and then plug the coax cable back in. Within 10minutes you should have activity back. If not, the modem needs to be replaced. I know you may have tried something similar to this but I'm hoping this may help.

SOURCE: im having problems

Your modem is not synching. It could be a number of possibilities, and you're going to have to do some troubleshooting to narrow it down.

  • Verify that your AC, Cat 5, & ethernet cables are connected securly
  • Verify that your modem is not in "standby" mode
  • Power cycle your modem
  • Try a different cable outlet
  • Call your ISP to make sure your modem is provisioned and your service is set up for cable internet.

SOURCE: cable modem + dlink router

Your modem needs to be rebooted in order for your router to pull an IP from the modem. To do this, look for a little hole in the back of your modem and use a pen to push the button. Wait for the reboot to finish and then try again in about 20 seconds.

"Send" light keeps blinking and won't connect to the internet.

If you can connect to the modem from a computer, run its own test utilities.

If that doesn't return enough instructions either call the modem supplier or internet service provider - hopefully they'll be the same - with the test results, or consider a factory reset... not just a restart or a simple reset but a factory reset.

If the problem is with the modem, either a factory reset will solve it, or it needs replacing.

Be aware that a factory reseat will destroy all your settings

My motorola SB5101 cable modem is connected properly. The power light is green but the receive light is keep on blinking other lights was turn off (send, etc.). Does my modem has a problem?

This light pattern indacates that the modem can not establish a connection to your internet service provider (ISP). This is typically do to a signal related issue. To trouble shoot the problem you will need to connect the modem directly to the main cable line where it first enters into the home. You will know when the modem establishes a connection by the top 4 lights becoming solid green. If at any point all 4 top green lights start to blink in sequence than you will need to contact your internet service provider to "unwall the modem". Remember most internet service providers require you to register new modems on there network. So if you have not all ready completed that process you will most likely not have access. If you can not get a connection from the main line than there is a issue with either the modem or the signal coming into the home and you will need to contact your internet service provider.

I hope that information above has helped is some way.

Ethernet light is green but continuously blinks is there a problem with modem or ethernet cable?

no, a green light means there is a connection with the network and dns server (gateway to the internet) information is sent allow this network in bundles called packets. Each time a packet is sent the green light blinks.....sometimes when many packets are being sent in succession the light will appear solid. so i wouldnt worry, the green lights on your router and computer are normal and you should become concerned if these lights turn yellow or stop blinking completely.
