Our Whirlpool dishwasher GU2500XTPT1 clean light blinks and will not go off. When we push the start/cancel button, it cycles through the 2 min cycle as the book says it should do and all lights go off. When we try to start a wash cycle after that, the start button shows green for a second then goes off and the clean light starts blinking again. Help

That could be a problem with the control board, but before anything else try unplugging it from the wall, or turning the circuit breaker off. After turning it back on, see if it still happens. Also check to be sure the door is closing properly.

SOURCE: ''Clean'' light is blinking, ''Cancel'' does not reset the cycle.

If the clean light flashes 7 times, pauses, then repeats...

When the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it stops working and locks the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.

To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

...all the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2 minutes).
You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.

If the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit (ie. element, thermostat or wiring).
It rarely happens but it could also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed (slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door when you close it).

Good luck!

SOURCE: Dishwasher lights blinking

QuietGuard3: Clean light flashing 7 times? Press Heated Dry, press Normal Wash, then press Heated Dry again and press Normal Wash again (that's 4 button-presses) and that should fix it.

SOURCE: My Whirlpool quiet wash plus 940 series is stuck on "lock out"

Have the same problem with my Sears ( made by Whirlpool ) 1603. Visited the store and the man said it must have had a power surge. Even the slightest will FRY the electrical in the Power Pad unit. Cost to repair, maybe $ 120 for new unit , installation costs, plus $65 for the man to get in the truck. Is it worth it ? They had the same, but newer Dwasher on sale for $390 , free delivery , pay for installation, take out old $20. What to do....

SOURCE: Blinking Clean light in Whirpool dishwasher

Control is programmed to stop running and not allow any further cycles if it detects a water heating problem (no temperature increase detected in heated Main Wash on 3 consecutive cycles). Control blinks the Clean LED 7 times repeatedly and disables the Start/Resume key until cleared. Running Diagnostics clears the control and allows it to operate again. The water heating problem must be fixed or the control will stop running again. See potential causes below. Heater circuit problem: ■ Open in heater. ■ Open connection or component in heater circuit. ■ Faulty heater drive circuit on control. 1. Check operation of heater in Diagnostics cycle. 2. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power. 3. Check resistance of heater and all components and connections in the water heating circuit or heat dry circuit.

Washer will not start

Does the dishwasher plug in under the sink or is it hard-wired? If it plugs in under the sink unplug it and let it stay that way for 5-10 mins and see if that changes anything. If it is hard-wired see if you can figure out which breaker it is on and turn it off for same amount of time. Let me know.

Thx

Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher LIghts are blinking....

I just read this for the same problem: push sanitize, then heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, cancel, then open and close the door. It worked. The dishwasher is running correctly even as I type this.
