The mp3 player turns on and plays music, the screen even lights up, but it won't display any text. help would be greatly appreciated, as creative won't seem to offer any.
thanks!
Thanks for the help. I already tried reconnecting the LCD, but it's a bit of a foolish design, as the connection to the board is located under the LCD and the LCD cannot be removed without making other disconnections. I tried another Creative hard drive with the mp3 player and there was no display either, so it's unlikely the software. I appreciate the help though.

Probably the display is off. Go to Settings and change 'Display Off' setting to 'Display On'. I have attached a link to a PCMag review of your player to help you.
Hello sandrah92, From what you are describing it sounds like you have a broken LCD screen. In most cases screens are repairable, but they are not generally covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. You might try contacting the manufacturer (RCA) at the phone number or web address listed in the User’s Manual and they may be able to give you a general idea of how much such a repair would cost and the procedure to follow for service.Alternatively you may be able to obtain repair services through a local electronics retailer, such as Best Buy™. try downloading the MP3 player recovery tool from Creative's website (the tool contains the latest firmware update available -- 1.15.03). Plug your ZV+ into your PC, run the program and let it update the firmware. Then format, reload your music and try it.
By the way, before updating the firmware, let the battery have a full charge, ok?
I hope it won't keep freezing on you after the update
My NWHD5 has a similar problem, the back light comes on but no data on the screen, since the cost of replacing the screen is a third of the price of the unit I cheated and bought a remote control from ebay which has a screen on it, not ideal but does the job.
