Question about Philips (NAP313922881592) Remote Control

Infrared light is it possible for the infrared light on a television to break or short out? my remote control stopped working so i bought a universal remote (i'm aware of the problems with these, especially the inexpensive ones). i've gone through all of the codes to program the remote control but it is still not working. it works on my dvd player but not my tv. could the problem be the tv unit itself? how would i test that?

Sure the IR sensor could be bad as this is a common problem for phillips . there is no other way to really have a consumer test the remote circuit with out an expensive scope or muti- meter. your gonna need a servicer to help ya with this problem as tvs now a days have no user serviceable parts inside and theres and awfull lot of HI Voltage around inside these sets even when they are turned off and unplugged. Good Luck

Why did my remote that i bought with my rca television stop working to tv an no universal remote will program to it ? could it be the sensor ? because otherwise everything works fine on tv you just ha

Try replacing the batteries of the remote first, and make sure there is no corrosion on the contacts. If that fails, you may have to re-program the universal remote for your TV. If that fails, then you either have a problem with your remote, or the sensor of the TV. Hint, use a digital camera to look at the "light" (LED) of the remote while you press the button. The digital camera can "see" that infrared light, and you can see it on your digital camera screen! This works with dedicated digital cameras, but may not work with smart-phone cameras. For example, it does NOT work with my iPhone, but does work with my Sony digital camera.

The remote has stoped working?

Remote testers are available (5 dollars) or you can take to Radio Shack to determine if problem is remote or set.

all sets have a remote receiver usually on front that receives the infrared signals from the remote===either the remote control or the receiver is bad.

Hi Keith,

First of all, thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.

My first advice is to confirm if the remote control is not the issue here and ensure that the fault came from the TV itself. Point directly your remote control's infrared emitter(Sensor) to your cellphone camera and then press any button key at the remote control, you will be able to see the flash of an infrared through your camera if the remote control is working fine. Watch the video below to have an idea how you gonna do this.

If you've confirmed that the remote control is not faulty, this is an indication that the problem is on the infrared receiver inside the TV. I would advice you to clean the TV's front panel infrared lens using a soft cloth, keep away all obstruction from the IR receiver, turn of the bright light in the room and check if the symptoms still persist. If yes, then the IR receiver inside the TV is already faulty and needs to replaced with a new one.

My original remote with this model stopped working several months ago.I bought a phillips universal remote and that worked fine for several months and that stopped working.I bought a new Phillips...

The first possibility is that the new remote control is a dud out of the box. It can happen. Another possibility is that the remote sensor in the TV has failed. Then the remote is transmitting, but it's not being picked up by the TV. (The lights are on but there's nobody home.) If you can, return the new remote to the store and exchange it. Then, if the set still doesn't respond, you'll need to replace the remote sensor.

Remote Stopped Working

It is possible the IR sensor is bad. Most of the time if it is a remote issue, the light on the remote will not light up. Does the remote that came with tv still control any functions? I would try the remote that came with the tv, and then go from there, but it sounds like your IR sensor has gone out on you.

LCD tv is working but the remote control is not responding? why?

Check to see if a universal remote will work. If it will not work with the TV. The infrared receiver to the remote may be dead.

The infrared laser in the remote could also be dead in the remote itself in which case you need to get a universal remote or new one.

My remote control I bought for my Sanyo TV stopped working I replaced the batteries and still did not work. I cannot find the code number to enter.

Please check & ensure the infrared is emiting from the remote control. Though we cant see this infrared beam with bare eyes, there is a trick to do so in http://www.unique-stuff.co.cc/fixing_remote_control_check_infrared.html Most of the problems is weakened infared beam. Replace the batteries when needed. Hope this fix the remote control problem.

Bdp s350 sony bluray player.

I would just like to add that I have a Sony BDP-S500 player and a Sony TV.

The Sony TV's remote was preprogrammed to control the Bluray player, which i discovered by accident, so I didn't have to mess with universal remote control codes or anything.

Hope that helps.
