I agree with techman, i would call akai back ask for a supervisor and (raise hell) with him or her. they won't back up a 2 yr old set (indeed)!!!!!!

Are you kidding/?? Customer service told you to find your own repair shop.? Its time to sit down and write a letter to the main headqaurters that would be listed in your owners manual . MAN their not suppose to say stuff like that to customers. I would address it attention to the president of Akai and send a copy to the BBB and the consumer affairs as a company is suppose to provide parts and service for there products for at least three to five years ., It used to be seven! You didnt say how this happened or if there was sound or any video on the screen. I might be able to lead you thru some diagnosie,BUT these sets do not have any user serviceable parts inside and can hold several differant hi voltages in the set ,even if its unplugged or off . Please if you can send a picture of your problem But as i said if your not a tech its very dangerous to tinker with these set! Good Luck

I have a Bauhn ATV-46FLEM LED LCD television that has developed vertical lines on screen. How can I remove them?

Hi,

Please double check that the vertical lines are present across all channels. If so, you might attempt a factory reset of the tv to attempt to remove the vertical lines. If this does not work, please shutdown your tv for 10 minutes (including unplugging the power cord) and then turn the tv back on and check for the lines.

Thank you.

Toshiba 32sl410u have 2 vertical lines on screen

Likely a shop repair but:

Either a bad board (main, or power or even a inverter board)

Worst case if Black line and thick would be the panel (screen unit) which would be fatal but is not likely if lines not black.

Vertical Line started on left side of HDTV, and now

This problem is down to the actual LCD or plasma screen, if this shows as the screen warms up and stays on then the screen will need to be replaced, you should go back to your retailer (not manufacturer) and report this problem, depending on the store and how long you have had the tv, the tv can be replaced for a like for like tv at store as this is not a cheap standard repair.

SanyoTV-blk screen w/thin line of light across screen great sound

Your Vertical Amp is probably Blown (bad) , but before you change that check all capacitors around the vertical amp IC and / or resolder resistors and diodes around vertical amplifier.
And NO it is NOT the Picture Tube

TV: bright line across black screen for several hours.

vertical output ic needs to be resoldered. careful leaving that bright line displayed on the screen as this will cause a permanent phosphor burn into the tube. this can not be corrected once burned unless you replace the tube. mch

Sony KF50WE610 Vertical Blue Lines Across Screen

the vertical blue lines indicate some interference from other electronic gadgets near your tv. it started showing up on my sony grand wega when i installed my wireless modem. i almost ordered a new rear projection lamp costing over $100 but decided to experiment. i first moved my desk computer farther away from the tv then isolated the wireless modem router by placing it inside a small glass - the vertical blue lines became lighter in color so i dedided to find another small glass that fit inside the first glass container then put the router in the double glass - no more blue lines and my wireless modem router still works.
do some deductive thinking to figure out what's messing up your tv and isolate the interference.
good luck!

"Perfect Focus" problem on Samsung HCN4727W

You have a bad sensor, a bad digital convergence board, or the new board is not working correctly. I would start by swaping out the convergence board or exchange it for another one. Good Luck

Television has no picture

That TV uses the PTK195 chassis, and the fact that you see only a thin line for each color near the bottom of the screen tells me your vertical output IC has stopped working, and is putting a small DC voltage across the yokes. I have seen this caused by a defective vertical output IC and I have also seen vertical problems caused by a small CRT coolant leak which drips onto the main board near the vertical output IC. If you do not have experience servicing the PTK195 chassis than have a qualified tech handle it for you.

Thin vertical line

What you have described is definitely some form of Electrical Interference. Interference can come from a variety of causes. Is the Cable Inputting the Cable Box close to some High Voltage Electrical Lines? Or Are you located near some Electrical Power Station? Or A Police station, where the Radio Transmitter of the Police Station causing the Interference? As I said, there are a variety of reasons. Also, Try to check if the connector is loose at the rear of the Cable Box, or at the rear of the TV. You will have to eliminate every possibility reason. Wish i could help further.
