The only thing you can try after van auto convergence with a error is unplg the setr for 24 hours and start over. If that dosent help then you do have a problem with the set. you could plead with the warrantee peeps at toshiba and state that this has been going on for a while but you thought you would wait and see if it would correct itself?? ie Auto convergence??? get my drift?? what the hey. Wont hurt to try man. if they wont buy it you will need to call a service person as there are no serviceable parts inside this set. try this # first 800-457-7777. Good Luck

I have a wavy 3d looking screen with weird colors

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Picture distortion

Sounds like convergence is off. Need new Convergence amps. Could cost a couple hundred. Check around. If it has an auto converge or manual converge try that first. Check menu

3-D picture

Good Day, ladyluck5509;
It sounds like the TV is experiencing an auto focus problem. That in other words is a convergence problem, needing to replace the convergence IC's, chips. There is no known focus knob. If you are concern of shocking oneself, I would recommend that you seek a factory authorized service center for repair. Always, always get an estimate first. The normal/average cost for this repair should run between $350.00-450.00.
Good Luck, Big Irish.

Tv problem

It sounds like your convergence is going bad.. this is pricey in older tv's. Look inside (but be careful) and see if there are some really big heatsinks with a IC mounted on each one. they should have a number like STK???-???. These are the convergence IC'S- change them, and you should be ok (IF your set uses the STK style IC's)

hope this helps.

PHILLIPS BIG SCREEN TV IS BUTTERFLIED

Are the colors out of alignment and unable to converge back? If so its the convergence ICs need replacing. If the convergence isnt out of alignment you have whats called a pincushion problem. If you would like a link to where you can obtain the service manual for this model let me know.

Red picture distorted

The complete convergence board AA95-02002A is avaiable through PTS electronics. You can call them at 1-800-844-7871. By the time you buy the right ICs for this unit, replace, them, it will cost you almost as much as another board. Samsung does not ave this board available any more. you can buy cheap replacement ICsl for about 20 bucks, but that would be a big mistake. Good Luck
