Whirlpool Gold Dishwasher leaking from behind door

My whirlpool DW drips when running. It is a small drip but consistent thruout cycle. It drips from behind the door, somewhere close to where the detergent dispenser is located. Is there a seal, washer or hose in this area that may have broken or loosened ? Since it only drips from the one spot I dont believe it is the seal around the door although I could be wrong ..

Thought I'd come back and post the "solution" here ... years ago we had an older whirlpool and a serviceman told my wife to just pop off the vent and clean out any paper or stuff that accumulated to avoid the wet dishes after the dry cycle completed. So when this dishwasher recently began leaving the dishes wet my wife did that again by prying the vent off to make sure it was clean. Apparently this models vent does not just "pop off". So when I removed the outer door from the inner door to check things out the vent just fell off. When I mentioned it looked like it was a bit chewed up she said "I couldnt get it off so I used a screwdriver. After she "put it back on" it was not tight and water got in, and found its way down the inner door and out the bottom. So I put it all back together and "screwed" the vent cover on as it should be ... and no more leak!

Could be water getting behind the lug that holds the dishwasher in place , I used some silicon sealant over the top and the dripping stopped

I just got a new whirlpool dishwasher and it is leaking water from under the cabinet when operating. When I took off the small panel on the bottom of the DW I could see a drip coming from above somewhere...

Hello

Too much detergent can cause over-sudsing, which causes detergent suds and water to leak out of the door. Whirlpool recommends that you use between 0 and 6 grains per gallon for soft to medium water and between 7 and 12 grains per gallon for medium to hard water. Only use fresh detergent, as old detergent can also cause suds. Keep large pots and pans away from the dishwasher door. Water can bounce off of these items and exit through the seal. Always place dishes in the lower rack to prevent the spray arm from ejecting water right onto the door.

The door gaskets create a seal around your door, preventing water from escaping. If the gaskets are brittle or torn, you must replace them. Clean the gaskets if detergent or food particles are stuck to them. Level the cabinet if the dishwasher is unlevel, which can cause water to squeeze through the door. You can raise or lower the dishwasher feet. Tighten the door latch, if loose. Water temperature above 120 degrees Fahrenheit can also cause leaks. Test the water temperature by running the hot water faucet in your kitchen. Insert a waterproof thermometer into the water. Lower the temperature setting on your hot water heater if too warm.

Your Whirlpool dishwasher can also leak if the tub is filling up with too much water. Check the water inlet valve and the float switch. If either one of these components is stuck, the tub overfills. Replace the component. Examine the water inlet valve if water is dripping from this part. The valve has a tube that goes from it to the dishwasher. Replace the tube if split or punctured.

Your dishwasher has a main tub seal. This seal must stay wet, or it becomes brittle and cracks. Unplug the dishwasher, and remove the spray arm, lower rack and impellers. Replace the seal. You have both inlet and drainage hoses on the rear of your machine. These hoses leak if they are split or not connected properly. Replace any damaged or crushed hoses, and tighten the connections if loose. Verify that the washers inside the hoses are installed properly.

We have the Whirlpool Gold quiet partner III dishwasher and lately have noticed residue on the dishes after the cleaning cycle is complete. Where is the trap to clean?

Make sure your water is hot, at least 120deg f. Also, use least amount of soap you can get away with. Usually around 2 tablespoons for soft water. Use powdered soap not gel. Gel leaves a tiny residue each load and will clog up plumbing in dw after 4,5,or 6 years. Rinse agent such as Jet Dry is highly recommended.

Try the "Tang" trick. Orange Tang drink mix is mildly acidic. With an empty dishwasher, start and fill, then normal drain. On second fill, add a full jar of Tang then let the dishwasher run for a few minutes. Crack the door to stop the dishwasher and let it sit for several hours or overnight. Then close the door, push start and let the dw run through the remaining cycle. This will sometimes clean out the crud in the water lines.

Hope this helps! Ken

Whirlpool Ultimate Care 2 leak after wash cycle

Hello, you may have a small drip from the pump or a small drip from the hose that goes from the pump to the rear of the cabinet. To make sure you will have to run the unit with the cabinet removed. A local service tech can remove the cabinet quicklyand isolate the leak.
