make sure that the white wires are indeed line and not neutral and you probably have the right idea but without a wiring diagram or seeing the unit I cannot confirm this just make sure you aren't hooking up line voltage to the neutral on the unit. also your service has only three wires correct? this means you are piggy backing the neutral and chassis ground (green wire on appliance) not cool on a trailer or manufactured home be careful bud

Never...ever change the fuse rating upward on an existing circuit to accomodate a new appliance. The fuse is a protective device designed to limit current to the level the wiring can safely handle. There is a strong possibility of fire at some point!!!!

If you are rewiring, most places require up to 30 amps for cooktop wiring anyway. Use #10 copper wire for that purpose. If you are doing this yourself, make all connections tight and install all grounds.

remove the child lock setting and the remainder will work
those hot plates that were not working may need new switches, thermostats or replacement elements
call an accredited appliance electrician to get it all working again

I am experiencing some problem with the controls on the cooktop. When turning the dial to the desired temp, sometimes the burner comes on, sometimes it does not. Some of the burners only engage when we...

I haven't heard of this problem before. If you do press down and the hotplate starts to work we know that the hotplates are okay. The only thing this could be is an internal problem inside the hotplate controller, possibly with the contacts. The controllers will need replacing.

The front right burner isnt working

Most common fault is the hotplate element is faulty and requires replacement followed by a burnt off terminal at the hotplate terminal followed by a faulty control switch.

The power went out and then the elements and oven would not work but there was power to the clock?

This solution only really applies to oven elements only. I haven't experienced it with hotplate elements as they are not normally controlled by the timer. When you have an electronic timer and there is a blackout the timer normally reverts to auto. function when the power comes back on. You have to set it back to manual before the oven will work. Turn the oven element to ON and the set it to manual. The oven element indicator light will light and the oven will work.

My Magig Chef Glass Rangetop

This part can cost over $400. It is usually not worth fixing. NEVER operate the stove with a cracked top. This is tempered glass and it can just explode! It is also a dangerous electrical issue. Liquid can drip down through the crack and contact the live open element.
