Re: Why won't my tv turn on?
Could be a hellotuv things, starting with the power supply.
You could unplug it for the night(pull the plug out), and try in the morning, but if you want a more in depth answer you should include a bit more detail if possible. Such as, how did it start, is the standby light on, do you hear any noises/see anything from the TV when trying to turn it on, does the TV have any repair history, did you have a recent power outtage etc'.

use the camera digital or cell cam and with the remote control viewn see if the LED are ON. see the photo attached. If do not do it. Open the remote control clean the keypads from corrosion, and resolder any colder joint . clean the contacts batteries and try again.
Try changing the input device to something you are sure works. Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.
If set turns on with the power button on set the remote is : not set to TV, not programmed for the set, has bad batteries or is bad.
If it even works one function it may need to be reprogrammed or taken apart to see if works---you can test the remote by pointing it at a digital camera with a LCD screen and pressing buttons to see if it makes the screen flash on the camera.
Will the TV turn on using the power button on top of the TV itself? If not, open the back of the TV,and look at the can shaped items called capacitors on the circuit boards. If any of them have the tops,or bottoms bulged out, they need to be replaced. This should get it working again.I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!
Take the remote to your local Radio Shack and have it tested.. They used to carry IR cards and now have a pen-like tester that can tell if the remote is operating properly. Then, if you're sure the code is correct, you probably will have to have the IR detector in the Tv replaced...
