I am working on the computer sometimes on the internet some times not , when the power switches off on the monitor. The computer is still running even though the power to the monitor switches off
I have a pro view 17 inch lcd desplay that shut down after about half an hour but powewr light stayed on. i noticed it was getting warmer than normal so i fitted a 12v fan from an old mobo i had lying around.. the desplay is now working better than ever.

Usually answered in minutes!
I only have the switch off problem in relation to some games. In normal use - no problem.
Typically, 10 or so minutes into a game (eg Brothers in Arms or GTA) the monitor switches off. LED goes out. By serially switching on again (& again) video will resume for another 5/10 mins. Then I give up. Didn't use to happen & Flight Simulator seems OK! Mystery! Will try refresh rate/ res solution suggested by Silly Girl!
