SOURCE: Lexmark P6250 black ink cartridge won t print

Write to Lexmark - you won't get any joy, but their reply might be interesting. I suspect that Lexmark builds a chip into their cartridges preventing it being refilled. When replying to me they did not admit this, but did not deny it, simply stating that their cartridges were designed for single use only. When I said that, apart from the cost, I wanted to minimise my impact on the environment by refilling cartridges, they pointed out their proud association with Planet Ark. I suspect that Planet Ark is happy to be an apologist for corporate vandals, and I seriously question their 'green' credentials. Order your next cartridges from Europe where the printer companies are not allowed to chip their products.

SOURCE: Lexmark Z517 wont print black ink

I have a z600 that i use. If not used for about a month the ink does clog the print nozzles and eventually ink cartridge does dry out. To avoid this even if i dont have to print anything I run a diagnostics test that prints out a nozzle aligment test every two weeks. The great thing about this is that it uses very little ink.You can find this test in your software that was provided by Lexmark. This will keep your nozzles cleaned and you will notice this helps extend the life of your cartridge.

SOURCE: refilling lexmark cartridges x2500

There are a couple ways to trick it into accepting the cartridge. You can put a different one in, take it out and then put the filled one in. Or you can find a refill kit with instructions on what contacts to cover with tape and you have to do it 2 or 3 times to get the printer to reset. Sometimes you can shut off the computer and printer for 20 min and start it up again. Or you can get the sledge hammer and smash the stupid printer before it sucks up your life savings and vow never to buy from a company that profits from causing problems that they tell you can only be solved by using more of their overpriced solutions.

My lexmark x3470 wont recognise compatible ink Cartridges any know of a way round this

If the ink cartridges you purchased are not Lexmark - that could be the problem. I used to have a Lexmark printer and I did the same thing - I purchased ink cartridges that were compatible but not Lexmark brand. Everything seemed fine until I tried to print and then I would get the same error sign and low ink message and it would not print. I kept thinking I was doing something else wrong and tried everything. In the end I broke down and got ink cartridges from Lexmark and that solved the problem. Now I have a Brother printer and I never buy anything other than Brother ink cartridges because I'm always afraid of that same thing happening again. I wish I knew which printers WOULD accept those non name brand ink cartridges, but thus far I do not know of any printers that do. Hope this helps you.

I have a Lexmark X3470 which uses the Lexmark 1 cartridge . I bought a replacement but the printer displays incorrect cartridge.

Please remove the cartridges from the printer. Take a dry lint free paper towel and gently wipe the contacts on the back of the cartridge (not the bottom from where ink is present). Wipe the contacts inside the printer (on cartridge carrier). Please snap the cartridges back into the cartridge carrier and please try to print a printer self test.
Good Luck!!!!

How to replace the ink cartridge

1. Look at the indicator light on your Lexmark printer. You'll need to replace ink cartridges when the light flashes or turns red instead of the standard green.

2. Purchase Lexmark ink cartridges. You can buy the brand name or purchase a generic version that is compatible with your printer. You can shop for low cost ink cartridges from ABC Ink.

3. Remove the old cartridges from your printer. Grip the sides of the Lexmark ink cartridges and pull it out. Dispose of the ink cartridges in a recycle program like the one at Staples or save the cartridges for refill.

4. Install the new ink cartridges after removing the protective tabs. Avoid touching the IC chip when installing the new Lexmark ink cartridges. Replace the cover of the printer.

5. Allow the Lexmark printer to run a nozzle test. Print several pages with the new ink cartridges to make sure you installed the ink cartridges correctly. The indicator light should return to a solid green color.

Lexmark x3470

This printer only has a color cartridge, but you can still use the color cartridge to print black and white. It mixes the cyan, magenta, and yellow inks to make black. You do not have to do anything special to make this happen--just print as normal.

Ink cartridge

If you have a 3470, you need a #1 cartridge. If you have a 3480, you need a #2 cartridge. If it is a 3400 series, there is only one cartridge. It lets you print both in color and in black.

My printed material comes out printed green instead of ablack. How do I fix that? lmpimpleton

Sounds like your black is being printed by your color cartridge. That happens sometimes depending on what else is on the page. Try cleaning your nozzles, or if the ink is low, replacing the cartridge.
