I have a Philips Magnavox TS2746C221 TV. I have suddenly lost the sound. I have tried hooking up another TV to the cable and that seems to be working. The picture is fine and everything else seems to be working. I read your solution mentioning the SAP setting. What is that? I have disconnected the audio connection to my DVD, but still no sound. Do you have any other suggestions?
I did not answer the original question you posed but the SAP is the acronym for Separate Audio Program and is used to provide spanish for instance on a show which is broadcast in both english and spanish. The problem is not all stations have audio on the SAP. If your audio processor is set to SAP and you switch to a channel which has nothing on SAP you loose audio. I'm guessing someone suggested this prior to this post. If you checked your TV and it is not on SAP that eliminates that. I would look at the audio circuit for problems. Either no power to the audion circuit, bad solder joints, blown output IC or possibly a blown speaker. I know the last one is remote but it does happen and it never hurts to check the simple problems first. Besides you aren't embarrassed later when you find out it was something simple. If you are going to check these issues out remember safety. Good luck.
