My camcorder will play back fine, but when switched to record mode, it shuts down after just a few seconds. I have tried using both the battery and the AC adapter for power sources so I do not think that has anything to do with it.

You have a bad sensor pack. now this is a nice camcorder but you have to weigh cost of repair vs cost of replacement i could fix it for about 75 bucks i have the part's in stock but shipping both way's could run about 50 buck's times 2 i.e. insured-packing. if interested e-mail me at [email protected]

My Bose sound bar is not working, hanged batteries still not working, pulled plug out for five minutes still not working, had sound before and now not working

If you only pull the plug out for 5 minutes this will have nil effect as most systems have a power battery that curves up during use and keeps setting etc during power cuts so until you unplug it for at least 24 hours which is longer than most power cuts the settings put in won't change and go back to factory settings

Why doesnt my laptop stay running when battery is fully charged?

check power settings by opening control panel -> power options. Check when is the computer set to go to sleep and when to turn of the display. This might be caused by Windows power settings that put the computer to sleep to save power.

Why will the power light not remain on and why does the recorder not recognize a DVD brand that has been used for the past two years?

Hello
It power supply regulator baord should be checked for any loose soldering points. Some coponents in it will heat up to an extent while the set works. Repeated heating and cooling may make solder points ot the components that get heated, and cause interruption to switching signals. Just take out the power baord, and resolder all the suspected doler points, by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge short in between adjecent solder points. If this do not help you contact the nearest Philips Authorised Service Center to get this set repaired. On rare occations, the supply board as card basis may be replaced. OK.

When i try to record it dosent let mi and in the screen it shows a tape with a line through it. what do i do?

The tape with line through it indicates that there is some issue with tape/tape mechanism. I believe that the tape symbol is as follows:
shajanrs_45.jpg

If the tape warning indicator flashes slowly, the reason may be.
  • The remaining tape becomes shorter than the length of five minutes recording.
  • No tape is inserted
  • The write protected tab on the cassette is set to LOCK(red).
If you're confirmed that the reason is not the first and second, it should be because of the write protected tab on the tape.
Don't worry, I will help you with that. Please see the below picture to view the LOCK slide switch:
shajanrs_46.jpg

If the tape with line symbol flashes quickly, it indicates that the cassette has run out of tape.
If the issue persists, please follow the troubleshooting steps and check if that helps.
  1. Reinsert the tape.
  2. Reset the Camcorder by pressing the reset button behind the LCD panel using a sharp pointed object.
  3. Perform a power resetting
  • Turn off the camcorder. Disconnect AC power adapter. Remove the battery pack.
Move the POWER switch to the CAMERA position for 15 seconds.
Move the POWER switch to the OFF position.
Reconnect the AC power adapter or reinsert the battery pack.
    Turn on the camcorder.
If the issue persists, service may be required.
I hope performing the above steps should resolve the issue.
If you need any assistance please get back to me.. Thanks for understanding.

Flashing eject sign error appears when camcorder got problem in its mechanism, please put another tape and check.
Remove battery from camcorder for couple of minutes, put battery back and try.
Also observe does tape reels turns reverse and forward when tape loaded in mechanism.
If problem still exist, qualified camera tech will fix it because it is not user level repair.

Sony trv87

Although the battery shows it takes a charge and the camera will run in playbackmode (VTR) I found if I remove the battery and run on AC the camera turns on and now I can record with it. The battery must be the problem.

Camcorder keeps shutting off when plugged in - how to disable power saver?

slinkystairs,

Simply remove the tape from the camcorder, and it should stay on. If you have a tape in the camera, the auto-shutoff is activated assuming you wish to record to the tape, regardless of the firewire connection to your PC.

Power save function

Hi,
Do you put a tape in when you try to record or do you connect to a DVD / VCR so that it records onto the DVD or VHS?
If this is how you do it, then I will recommend you use a mini DV tape instead.
Hope this helps.
