No, there isn't a color button on the tv. I've tried usuing the picture controls too. I've tried color, brightness, tint and contrast, and even on black and white it's still green.

Could be one of a few things. There are transistors on the CRT board (board at the back of the picture tube) which control the intensity of each gun (red, green, blue). The most likely thing is not too much green in your case, it's probably the absence of one of the other colors. Likely you won't see any red or blue in the picture.
One other thing could be a blocked electron gun (inside the picture tube) in which case get yourself a new TV, there's no cheap way to fix that, in fact, you can't even buy replacement tubes for most sets 'cause they're just not cost effective.
Another scenario is a faulty processor IC not giving the correct signals to the CRT board for proper color balance.
All of the above would require some electronics skill to troubleshoot. If you don't have any, don't even open the back, there's likely nothing you can do and you put yourself in danger if you don't know what you're doing.

Is there a color button on your T.V? Maybe someone bumped it. You know, like on the old Macs. I know your tv is new, but there might be a button. check.

Contrast really dark but seems to improve after the tv has been on several hours

Hi:
You may have a problem with the inverters in the unit, they are responsible for lighting up the back panel. Check or have checked the power supply voltage to the inverters, should be around 18-24 volts DC. Also leaky capacitors on the power supply will cause this issue as well as leaky or puffy capacitors on the inverter.

Hi,
According to the system the problem in your projection is convergence and the solution is to replace the IC STK's.The part Number is CZ01341. Change the IC STK both and your TV work fine again. And for parts please see the link below.

JVC 56" Rear Projection - red tint.

I've had this problem with my projection TV recently. I would say your lens/lamp is to blame. It might be time to change it, depends on the last time it was changed, most of the time, the TV will tell you that it needs to be changed, but not always. I think your best bet is the TV lamp.

Picture settings

Colorimetre HCFR software
AVC HD 709 calibration disk
Spyder2 colorimeter (I know most prefer the Eye-One meters, but the Spyder2 was available from my job at no cost)

Here are the settings:

PS3 Blu-Ray player

Output Format (HDMI): Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr (important!!! NOT RGB output)
BD 1080p 24hz Output (HDMI): On (this TV can reproduce video at 48hz for accurate 2:2 pulldown)
Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super White (HDMI): On (not sure if this matters)

Take time to get used to the settings, you may think the screen looks dull at first. The truth is most people have way too much contrast on their TVs.
These settings will also work for Cable or Dish hookups, in which case you may change the Noise Reduction option to Medium to reduce signal noise.
