Replace big end bearing

What is the problem? It is not necessary to disassemble the whole engine. Take the engine out of engine compartment, remove the transmission, fly wheel, front timing cover, timing gears, oil pan, filter gauze, and finally the crankshaft. Leave the connecting rods in place, only remove the bearing shells. Re grind the crankshaft to the specifications and install it back in the reverse order of dis assembly.

Cltuch 97 excel

dont listen to them, easiest way is: remove air intake box(3 nuts)
remove nuts surrounding the outer gearbox(about 6) and then remove the gearbox mounts
lower the gearbox and move slightly to the drivers-side. best to put a block or jack under it. then take the fly-wheel off(marking where it sits against the clutch kit)
and then pull the clutch plate off, making sure all fingers are not bent. i picked up a full clutch kit 2nd hand for 25$

Difficult shifting from first to second and second to third

clutch may be worn, may need replacing ,but first check system for fluid leak, cneck fluid level and condition, if black in colour then you have worn seals, you can replace seals but i recomend replacing components with new ones becouse the bore of master and slave cylinder can also wear causing seals to leak, note: when servicing clutch system you change clutch and preasure plate and fly wheel if out of spect.

  1. A length of starter cord or nylon rope may be used instead of the piston stop (retain 6" ± so you can remove it). Make sure the piston is near the top of the cylinder before feeding the cord or it can fall through the exhaust port and damage the piston as it rises.

Fly wheel ring gear replacement

You need to pull the tranny out.
Then the flywheel needs to be unbolted from the engine.
if it's an automatic, purchase a new flywheel, if its a clutch, you can have a new ring gear pressed on to the flywheel...
